Ubisoft Sets High Expectations for The Division 3

Although Ubisoft is already working on the next The Division game, details are still scarce. However, executive producer Julian Gerighty recently shared positive news about its progress. The Division 2, released in 2019, has recently become popular again with the addition of new content. Ubisoft seems eager to build on this success and has plans for more content this year and in the future, including the much-awaited new game.

2026 will be a major year for the Tom Clancy’s The Division series, marking its 10th anniversary on March 8th. In addition to regular updates, a new “Battle for Brooklyn” expansion is coming, and PlayStation 5 players will be pleased to know the original Division game is receiving a performance boost to run at 60 frames per second. Ubisoft has more planned for the anniversary, though details are currently limited. The game’s roadmap includes fresh content and the return of the popular Survival Mode, now called Survivors. While all this is in development, the team is also working on a completely new Division game, though it will likely take some time before that’s released.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 Is Going To Be “A Monster”

During an interview with Gaming Interviews, executive producer Julian Gerighty discussed the future of the Division franchise and offered some early details about the upcoming Division 3. While Massive Entertainment’s work on Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 is well-known, Gerighty couldn’t share many specifics, but described the game as looking very promising. He also confirmed the team is working diligently and believes the new installment will be just as groundbreaking as the original Division.

Currently, there’s no release date or confirmed platforms for The Division 3, suggesting it’s still early in development. While fans might have hoped for more concrete news, this update will likely keep them talking for months, or even years. It sounds like The Division 3 will be the most ambitious game in the series yet, and hopefully, it will improve on what made the previous games successful.

During a recent update, the developers hinted at more details for the upcoming ‘Survivors’ experience in The Division 2. This new mode builds on the popular extraction-based Survival mode that was previously available as downloadable content for the first Division game. As players might expect, ‘Survivors’ will take place during a blizzard in Washington, D.C., requiring them to scavenge for resources while battling the extreme cold. The entire game map will be altered by the weather, and other new features are also planned. Notably, Magnus Jansén, the original creative director of The Division, is returning to lead development on this experience, suggesting it’s in good hands.

Recently, The Division 2 was facing an uncertain future, and many thought the game was nearing its end. The cancellation of The Division Heartland in 2024 – after three years of development – only strengthened that belief, suggesting Ubisoft was abandoning the series. However, a small team of five developers at Massive Entertainment stepped in and revitalized the game with new seasonal content and special events. This quickly brought players back, leading Ubisoft to continue supporting The Division 2 with expansions like the Battle for Brooklyn and the upcoming Survivors experience. They are also now working on a completely new game in the franchise.
