Ubisoft Shares Crash by 30% After Restructure News

Ubisoft’s shares have plummeted by over 30% today after news of a major restructuring broke.

Ubisoft recently announced a major overhaul of how it operates, with a greater focus on creating immersive, open-world games and ongoing, live-service games. This announcement has caused the company’s stock price to fall significantly today.

Ubisoft Shares Plummet After Restructure Announcement

Ubisoft’s stock price has dropped significantly today, falling by 33.78% to reach 4.44 EUR, down from its opening price of 5.26 EUR, according to Google Finance. Over the last six months, the company’s shares have lost more than half of their value.

This decline follows a recent company overhaul that included changes to its structure, operations, and projects. As part of this reset, several exciting games, including a remake of Prince of Persia, were cancelled. The restructuring also resulted in the closure of some studios and job losses throughout the company.

Ubisoft is restructuring with a new, more decentralized model. They’re creating five separate creative teams, each focused on specific game genres, to become a company that better understands and serves gamers.

The company’s latest model will benefit from focused funding, increased expertise, and the newest technologies, including significant investment in Generative AI that directly improves the player experience.

Good news for fans of Beyond Good & Evil 2: TopMob’s latest report confirms the game is still in development despite recent project cuts. However, the recent changes at Ubisoft have probably pushed back the release of the Black Flag remake by as much as a year.
