Details have been officially released regarding the Ubisoft-Tencent partnership, revealing that Vantage Studios is a new studio dedicated to developing games within the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six franchises.
Back in March, it came to light that Tencent invested a substantial $1.25 billion USD to acquire a share in a newly formed Ubisoft studio. This studio was intended to concentrate on the company’s most popular game series. While the exact structure of the studio remained unclear, given the many recent layoffs across the gaming industry, fans weren’t particularly excited about the news. More details are expected soon.
Ubisoft has announced the creation of a new studio called Vantage Studios, which will be headed by Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes. As we’ve shared before, this studio will concentrate exclusively on developing games within three popular franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.
Vantage Studios Promises A Lot – But Can It Deliver?

The website states that Vantage Studios aims for an efficient process that gives developers more freedom and speeds up the process of collecting and using player feedback. This is all while still benefiting from Ubisoft’s experience, resources, tools, and technology.
Given the recent changes at EA, it’s surprising that artificial intelligence (AI) isn’t mentioned anywhere in their studio details. Tencent isn’t even acknowledged. Despite a clear effort to speed up game creation using AI – often involving staff reductions – Vantage Studios hasn’t addressed this at all.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ success showed that the series still has potential. Now, the challenge is maintaining that success, especially since the game relied on the popular setting of ancient Japan. The fate of many franchises is uncertain, and we’re hoping Vantage Studios lives up to expectations-a lot of jobs depend on them creating quality games. It’s important they don’t just have a catchy name, but also deliver strong content.
