Okay, so I’m already thinking about my new Ultimate Team in EA Sports FC 26. If you’re like me and getting a bit tired of always seeing the same big Premier League and La Liga squads, or you’re totally new to the game, I’ve been brainstorming some fun team ideas. These aren’t necessarily going to be the absolute strongest teams you can build, but they’ll be different and hopefully get me really invested in building and upgrading my squad. Some of these might take a lot of coins to pull off in FC 26, but others are totally achievable even on a smaller budget.
The Greatest Ever From One Club
Great With Legend & Hero Cards, But Possible With Current Players
A popular team-building idea in FC 26 is creating a ‘best of’ squad featuring a club’s all-time greats. This can include current players and club legends who’ve moved on. Teams with a rich history often have more Legend and Hero cards available. For instance, an all-time Barcelona team in FC 26 could feature current star Lamine Yamal alongside icons like Messi, Ronaldinho, Cruyff, Xavi, and Iniesta.
Brighton presents a unique team-building opportunity. While they currently lack iconic ‘Legend’ or ‘Hero’ cards, they’ve consistently sold off top players over the last ten years. Imagine combining current stars like Mitoma and Minteh with former talents like Caicedo, Cucurella, Mac Allister, and White – all at their peak ratings or with special cards. This creates a strong ‘past and present’ team, potentially utilizing some of the most affordable 90+ rated players in FC 26.
An U21s Side Of Your Favorite Nation Or League
Particularly Interesting With Evolutions To See How The Next Generation Will Shape Up
Young players aren’t included in exhibition games or the standard career mode. However, Ultimate Team offers more options, allowing you to build a team of under-21 players representing a specific country or league. While these young talents might not have high ratings initially, even though they have a lot of potential, you can improve them using the Evolutions feature.
You can also use Under-21 or Under-19 teams in tournaments that need Silver cards. This is a fun way for fans to check out up-and-coming players in FC 26 and in real-world football.
Build Around A Type Of Card
TOTW, Hero, Or Event Cards
One fun way to build your Ultimate Team is to focus on collecting a specific type of card – like the visually appealing Team of the Week cards – and try to create an entire team around them. While building a team with high-value Legend cards would be amazing, it’s also possible to do this with more affordable options. Team of the Week cards typically cost around 10,000 coins, and some Hero cards featuring retired players can also be found at reasonable prices.
Throughout the year, the game keeps things fresh with awesome events like Ultimate Scream and Winter Wildcards, which bring a ton of new cards. The best part is, you can actually earn some of these event cards just by playing – completing challenges, Squad Building Challenges (SBCs), or evolving your players. It’s a great way to build up your team without spending a ton of coins!
The Tallest Team
Win Every Header
A fun challenge in EA Sports FC 26’s Ultimate Team is building a squad of the tallest players possible. This ‘giant’ team would encourage a long-ball, cross-heavy playstyle, as you’d win almost every header. On defense, it would be incredibly tough to play against, and defending corners would become much easier.
Although it’s mainly a lighthearted concept, many skilled players are also very tall. You can improve lower-rated, tall players like Isaak Tourse (6’9″ with a 71 rating) using Evolutions. Plus, retired players like Peter Crouch have affordable cards available.
Multi-National Teams Based On Culture, Regions, Or History
Make British, Yugoslav, Or Spanish-Speaking Teams
It’s enjoyable to create national teams with today’s and past players, but another interesting approach is to build teams based on shared national connections. For instance, you could combine players from England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland into a British team. Or, you could create a Spanish-speaking team with stars from Spain, Argentina, and other South American countries. A team featuring players from Brazil and Argentina would be particularly dominant.
Teams can also draw inspiration from countries with rich sporting histories, like the former Yugoslavia, bringing together top players from Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia. These teams could be built using only current athletes, or a blend of present-day stars and legendary players from the past. Cultural backgrounds also offer a strong foundation for team building.
A Team Full Of Keepers To Embarrass Opponents
A Fun Way To Play The Game
For a fun challenge, try playing with a deliberately weaker team – it makes every success feel more rewarding. A funny idea is to build a team entirely of goalkeepers and see how they perform as outfield players. Modern goalkeepers are surprisingly good with their feet, so it might be easier than you think!
Tall, strong goalkeepers can be effective when launching long balls forward, potentially making someone like Manuel Neuer a good attacking option. For a really unique and surprisingly enjoyable challenge, try building a team entirely of bronze-level goalkeepers. Your opponent might underestimate you, and even a tie will feel like a huge accomplishment.
