A passionate Pokemon enthusiast has recently conceptualized a fresh take on Mega evolution for Gastrodon, introducing intriguing designs for its West Sea and East Sea variations. As anticipation builds for the 2025 launch of “Pokemon Legends: Z-A,” fans have been busy crafting innovative versions of classic Pokemon using Mega Evolutions, a feature set to make an appearance in the upcoming franchise installment.
In simpler terms, Gastrodon, a dual Water/Ground type Pokémon, was first introduced in the fourth series of games. Unlike many other creatures from the same era, Gastrodon and its precursor Shellos have two distinct forms based on their origin. The West Sea Gastrodon sports pink and brown skin and is native to the western part of Sinnoh, while the East Sea Gastrodon is blue-green and originates from the eastern side.
Currently, a dedicated Pokémon enthusiast known as El-psy-congroo-01 has devised a novel Mega evolution for Gastrodon. This innovative creation includes two distinct variations: the West Sea Gastrodon and the East Sea Gastrodon.
The West Sea Gastrodon sports a large, slug-like appearance with pink and brown skin, adorned with yellow and blue markings across its body. It is classified as both a Ground and Poison-type Pokémon.
In contrast, the Mega evolution of the East Sea Gastrodon is a Water/Poison-type creature, characterized by shades of green, blue, and pink.
This creative endeavor received much acclaim from the Pokémon community, who bestowed over 1,300 upvotes upon El-psy-congroo-01.
Pokemon Fan’s Mega Gastrodon

Fans are expected to keep creating new Mega evolutions until the ones included in “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” are officially unveiled. Rumors suggest that this game might introduce as many as 27 new Mega evolutions. So far, Game Freak has confirmed that Absol, Aerodactyl, Altaria, Ampharos, Charizard, Gallade, Gardevoir, Gyarados, Heracross, Houndoom, Lucario, Kangaskhan, Pidgeot, Pinsir, Sableye, Salamence, Steelix, and Tyranitar will have Mega Evolutions in the game.
