While it’s not always trendy or stylish to sport clothing featuring anime characters, whether you’re in Japan or elsewhere. However, stereotypes can be shattered occasionally. Here’s an instance where they were: A popular Japanese fashion brand named NEVER MIND, known for its collaborations with pop culture brands, has recently unveiled a line of clothing inspired by the acclaimed series “Attack on Titan“. Particularly noteworthy among these new releases are the jackets.

Last week, the brand unveiled its latest collection of “Attack on Titan” merchandise through PR Times, a Japanese news site, a day before it hit online stores. Starting January 29th, fans could find the entire collection on NEVER MIND’s website. Among the offerings are t-shirts and hoodies, but the souvenir jackets really stand out as the most eye-catching items.

The Most Fashionable Attack on Titan Clothes Yet

Stand Apart from the Crowd

It’s no wonder that, given the global acclaim of Attack on Titan, a multitude of clothing lines have taken inspiration from the franchise throughout the years. For instance, UNIQLO, a popular Japanese casual wear brand, has produced several collections featuring characters and logos from the anime. These items can also be found in stores like Hot Topic and HMV, even outside of Japan. However, these pieces often consist of basic t-shirts with anime characters or logos, which, while comfortable, might not necessarily represent the latest fashion trends.

I’m absolutely smitten by the two extraordinary reversible jackets crafted by NEVER MIND! They truly stand out in the realm of otaku fashion, boasting an exceptional flair. These “Attack on Titan” jackets are a unique breed known as “sukajan” or souvenir jackets in Japan. They’re renowned for their intricate designs on the back, often embroidered, and are typically made from vibrant, eye-catching materials and colors, with the body and sleeves sporting different hues.

While traditionally, souvenir jacket designs have been steeped in Japanese imagery such as Mt Fuji, cranes, and cherry blossoms, they’ve grown increasingly popular for showcasing pop culture themes too.

These two jackets are reversible, much like many souvenir jackets, allowing you to choose which design to display depending on your mood. The first jacket showcases a black and gold side with Eren and Mikasa from the first season of Attack on Titan, depicted in mid-action across the back, leaving a trail of cherry blossoms behind them. The flip side is boldly colored red and black, featuring the Colossal Titan extending a threatening hand towards the wearer. It retails for 49,500 yen or approximately $320 USD.

This second jacket model shares the black-and-gold color scheme on one side, with an image of Levi from Season One replaced by his likeness on the back. To create the illusion of motion, lines depicting “movement” are drawn from his weapons. The reverse side showcases a more understated design, opting for a matte olive green fabric instead of shiny material. The Survey Corps symbol adorns both the back and arms of this side. Its price is 43,780 yen, which equates to approximately $283 USD.

Cool, Yet Comfy Attack on Titan Clothes

For the Less Flashy Types

If you’re seeking something that offers a bit more comfort and a touch less extravagant, NEVER MIND has introduced some casual options as well. These include t-shirts and a hoodie, in addition to the souvenir jackets. They still showcase unique, appealing character designs, but are easier on your budget. If you want to create a complete ensemble, they pair nicely with one of the souvenir jackets too.

As a dedicated fan, I’ve got two fabulous hoodies here that instantly catch the eye! The first one boasts a sleek black color with the iconic Eren, poised for action on the back, ready to strike. On the other hand, the second hoodie showcases both Eren and Mikasa in a stunning display of camaraderie.

The second hoodie also flaunts the Training Corps symbol gracefully adorning its sleeves, while the first one sports the Survey Corps logo elegantly running along its side. There are two distinct t-shirt designs as well, each available on either a black or white background. One design replicates the Colossal Titan from the initial souvenir jacket, while the other offers a fresh new look featuring Eren, Levi, and Mikasa all in an action-packed pose.

Everything from the “Attack on Titan” series is available for purchase online through NEVER MIND’s website. Keep in mind that their site functions exclusively in Japanese, but it offers an excellent opportunity to explore these intriguing designs, regardless of whether you plan to make a purchase or not.
