Uncover the Hidden Secrets of Indiana Jones’ Savage Discovery Mission!

In the game “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” the Fieldwork missions are additional tasks that Indiana Jones can choose to undertake. These missions often involve assisting individuals in distress, such as aiding a professor and his assistant in Vatican City.

The adventure called “Savage Discovery” assigns Indiana Jones with the task of freeing an archaeology student named Sidney, who’s been falsely imprisoned by patrol guards known as the Blackshirts, within Vatican City. You can stumble upon this mission incidentally through finding a stolen items report, or follow these instructions to initiate the “Savage Discovery” quest.

Grab The First Field Report

Following Indiana acquiring a clerical disguise from Father Antonio, you may exit the Apostolic Library and seize the Theft Report from the military tent on your left, near the Mussolini propaganda poster. Move around freely, but steer clear of the senior officers as they might notice that Indy seems suspicious; don’t bring any money or valuables when soldiers are present. As soon as you enter the tent, the Theft Report will be on a chair to your left. This report implicates Sidney in stealing artifacts from the Vatican excavation site and triggers the Savage Discovery Fieldwork quest. Remember to activate this mission by choosing Track in the Journal.

Meet Professor Savage & The Fool Card

To proceed with the task, Indiana requires a Tarot card illustrating The Fool Major Arcana. Study the map and move towards the Belvadere Courtyard as indicated by the yellow marker. Continue along the alleyway with the double doors, veer left towards the Vatican Garden. Keep going down this path until you spot the professor. Discuss with him about Sidney’s attempts to retrieve the Stone Tablet seized by the Blackshirts during the dig. Indiana Jones consents to aid Sidney in recovering the Roman artifact. Post this dialogue, head towards the barrel situated opposite the professor and pick up the Fool Card.

Should you find yourself confused after deviating from the set course, consult your diary for a reminder of your intended goal and take a look at your map, then follow the yellow marker as guidance.

Rescue Sidney And Obtain Sidney’s Letter

Unfold Indiana Jones’ map again and trace the path to the northwest city barracks as indicated by the marker. Be mindful of the Blackshirt officer and seek cover on the scaffolding for a zip line entrance into the barracks. Inside, follow the yellow guidance and employ stealth whenever possible. If necessary, seize one of the guards’ batons and use it for either a sneak attack or a direct confrontation. As you progress, you’ll encounter a robust guard in a room containing the cell key; he’s stronger than the regular Blackshirts, so rely on counterattacks and weapons. Retrieve the key and liberate Sidney from his cell within that same room. Afterwards, Sidney will disclose that a man named Giuseppe is in possession of the stone tablet at the excavation site. Once he’s gone, pick up Sidney’s Letter located near the bed before exiting the barracks and making your way to the Apostolic Palace.

Entering The Excavation Site

Infiltrate The Apostolic Palace

According to the map, go past the spot where Indiana Jones encountered Professor Savage, but steer clear of approaching the palace’s front door in the subsequent courtyard because the Blackshirts will bar Indy’s entry. Instead, veer right towards the stairs preceding the guarded entrance and make your way through the construction area. Then, ascend a ladder and use Indiana’s whip to swing from the chandelier to the other side of the scaffolding. Rest assured; the workers won’t find it odd that a Vatican clergyman is swinging on a bullwhip from the chandelier.

1. Proceed to the extremity of the platform, continue ascending till Indy gets to a window balcony via stairs. Leap over the rooftop fissure and navigate through the window gap in the scaffolding to penetrate the palace.

2. Advance to the end of the platforms, then scale up until Indy arrives at a window balcony. Jump across the break in the roof and maneuver through the open window crevice on the scaffolding to access the palace.

3. Walk to the platform’s terminus, ascend until you find Indy standing on a window balcony. Leap over the rooftop gap and traverse the open window space on the scaffolding to infiltrate the palace.

4. Make your way to the end of the platforms, then climb up till you see Indy at a window balcony. Jump across the rooftop crevice and move through the open window slot on the scaffolding to break into the palace.

5. Proceed to the endpoint of the platforms, ascend until you spot Indy at a window balcony. Leap over the roof gap and navigate the open window opening on the scaffolding to penetrate the palace.

Inside The Palace

Inside the palace, if you manage to sneak in through a small window opening and then proceed through the next door into the corridor, deal with or bypass the Blackshirts. There’s an escape route via a window on the left corridor, or feel free to search for collectibles throughout the palace. It’s quicker to defeat enemies using batons and improvised weapons while you’re at it. Multiple exits are available outside, so refer to the map to follow the yellow marker towards the excavation site.

The Excavation Site

Find Guiseppe & Obtain The Cellar Key

Upon leaving the dig site, stealthily make your way to the wooden structure to retrieve the final Field Note from the desk inside. It’s a Site Dig Schedule, revealing Giuseppe’s location at the spot marked F. Descend to ground level and search for a small cave-like area labeled F. Upon entering, you’ll find Giuseppe engrossed in digging. You can either surprise him with a sneak attack to get his key or initiate a conversation that leads to a physical altercation. Knock him unconscious and retrieve the cellar key from his person, use it to unlock the gated door, and depart from the excavation area.

Return The Stone Fragment

Find The Address

After departing from the dig site, adhere to the map until you pass the guards by the barricade. Proceed along the alleyway to your right and look for a staircase leading to a basement. Utilize the key obtained from Giuseppe to unlock the cellar door and enter. Inside, locate the Stone Fragment resting on some blocks. This action will initiate a cutscene featuring Indy in a scuffle with a guard. Overpower him, retrieve the safe code from his person, and then return to Professor Savage to hand over the artifact.

Return To Professor Savage

Make your way back to the library, where you’ll find Sidney and Professor Savage together. Go up to them and give them the Stone Fragment, which will initiate a scene and finish the quest. This task will earn Indiana Jones 300 Adventure Points and unlock the “A Savage Discovery” Trophy/Achievement.
