In Atomfall, the innovative method for advancing the narrative provides several starting points for players within a story, and various endings can be experienced based on the decisions made throughout. This isn’t limited to primary quests, as even the ancillary content you stumble upon during your journey will have multiple outcomes.
In the game, you’ll stumble upon an optional adventure that revolves around the proprietor of the bakery in Wyndham Village. This tale will require players to determine the best approach to resolve The Bakery Issue in Atomfall, ensuring a favorable result aligned with their gaming preferences.
How To Start The Bakery in Atomfall
In Atomfall, much like many other Leads, you’ll find numerous starting points for players to kick off The Bakery questline. This narrative can be activated through various means, including exploring and discovering it by performing one of these actions:
1. Investigating a specific area marked with an exclamation point on the map.
2. Overhearing a conversation between NPCs that hints at the start of this quest.
3. Finding a mysterious object that triggers the questline’s initiation.
4. Receiving a quest from another character in the game world.
- Talk to Captain Sims in the Village Hall (33.4E, 79.3N) in Wyndham Village, and offer to help Protocol. This will lead to him asking you to investigate some suspicions he has about Iris the baker.
- Talk to Iris in the bakery in Wyndham Village (33.4E, 80.2N), and take either a sympathetic or threatening approach to get information on her husband’s condition.
- Find the note in Wyndham Garage (35.5E, 79.2N), which has a key to the bakery bedroom next to it.
All Outcomes for The Bakery in Atomfall
As I navigate through The Bakery game, my choices and conversations shape my journey significantly. Essentially, there are several endings I might stumble upon, but they mostly boil down to these key outcomes:
1. A thriving bakery that attracts a steady stream of customers, ensuring its continued success.
2. A struggling bakery with dwindling sales and mounting debts, which may ultimately lead to closure.
3. A unique, niche bakery that finds its niche market and becomes beloved by a dedicated following.
Each choice I make along the way can tip the scales in favor of one of these outcomes, so it’s important to strategize wisely!
- Your suspicions are reported to Sims. If you go back to the bakery and go upstairs to the bedroom, you’ll find both Iris and her husband have been shot dead.
- You use the key from Wyndham Garage to go into the bedroom. Phillip becomes hostile, and you will likely need to kill him or escape. If you kill him, Iris becomes hostile.
- You get the Strange Tonic from Mother Jago, which Iris gives to her husband. If you return later, you find out that he has escaped.
No matter what decision you make, the benefits will be quite similar in essence. However, the one thing from this questline that you might particularly desire is the skill book, which you can obtain irrespective of the final result.
How To Get Strange Tonic for Iris in Atomfall
If players prefer a more passive approach and wish to aid Iris, they should journey to Casterfell Woods and encounter Mother Jago, one of Atomfall’s prominent figures. She could be a valuable ally for your character if you decide to attempt an escape from the quarantine zone with her. To locate Mother Jago, players must travel to The Old Mine in the north-eastern part of the region (coordinates: 27.2E, 92.2N) within Casterfell Woods.
After locating Mother Jago, she will share with you that the formula for the Mysterious Potion is kept by the Druids within their fortified castle, and will also ask you to retrieve a herbal book of hers they have been safeguarding there as well. While you don’t need the book to aid Iris, you will require the recipe to concoct the elixir.
Reaching the Druid’s castle involves some distance as it lies at the far end of Casterfell Woods. You’ll encounter a decent number of adversaries along the way, depending on the challenge level you’ve chosen. The castle boasts two entrances: the primary one is at 19.6E, 83.7N, and the secondary one is adjacent, both sharing the same latitude at 20.6E, 83.7N. It’s suggested to opt for the side entrance because it houses a unique key necessary to discover the Strange Tonic recipe. Furthermore, the High Priestess holds an Atomic Battery accessible only through the side entrance, which you’ll need later in the game.
To get to the Druid’s castle, you’ve got a long journey ahead since it’s located at the other end of Casterfell Woods. Along the way, you’ll run into various foes, depending on the difficulty level you selected. The castle has two doors: one main door at 19.6E, 83.7N and a side door next to it (both are at latitude 20.6E, 83.7N). It’s best to use the side entrance because there’s a special key inside that leads to a secret recipe for a magical potion called Strange Tonic. Moreover, you’ll need an Atomic Battery found with the High Priestess via the side door later in the game.
How To Find the Strange Tonic Recipe

Upon reaching the castle’s side entrance, players should expect an influx of aggressive NPCs ahead. These characters will not think twice before attacking, given that they view your presence as a violation of their territory. Once you’ve crossed the threshold, here are some guidelines to follow:
Inside the castle via the side entrance, players can anticipate encountering numerous hostile NPCs. They won’t give you a moment’s peace before attacking, since they consider your presence a breach of their territory. Once inside, just stick to these instructions:
- As you approach the fork in the road where the Druid is and the BARD crate to the right, go straight.
- Loot the BARD crate on the left, then head down the stairs and take down the High Priestess (make sure to grab the Atomic Battery)
- Follow the path down the stairs, taking out enemies along the way.
- Cross the bridge next to the blue glow, then turn left up the stairs, then cross the bridge to the right (be wary of the bat swarm following you)
- Follow the path and take a left, unless you want to kill all enemies nearby first, in which case clear them on the right then continue on the left.
- Continue up the path until it winds to the right, then go up the ladder.
- Go straight down the stairs and up the next set right ahead, then take out the enemies.
- Go through to the room on the opposite end of the clearing, and look to the right to find the Strange Tonic Recipe.
After obtaining the recipe for the Strange Tonic, players can easily master it by navigating to their inventory, then choosing the ‘Consume’ option. Doing so will teach them the steps needed to craft this unique item. Here’s the breakdown of the process:
1. Obtain the Strange Tonic recipe.
2. Go to your inventory.
3. Select the ‘Consume’ option for the recipe.
4. Learn the process to create the Strange Tonic.
5. Follow the acquired recipe to craft the item.
- Four Spores
- One Chemical
- Three Glass
- Five Herbs
Using this recipe, you can concoct an Unusual Brew. Take it to Iris to finish the passive step of the mission once you’ve done so.
Should You Help Iris or Report Her to Captain Sims?

In summary, the choices players make don’t have major repercussions, so they should focus on what benefits they can derive from their actions. If you want to win Captain Sims’ favor or access Skethermoor without hostility from Protocol, inform on Iris to Sims. If your goal is the Mother Jago ending, it would be more advantageous to track down the Strange Tonic. While there’s no clear connection, acquiring the recipe for the Strange Tonic follows the same questline as assisting Jago, regardless.
Whichever path you take, the prize remains unchanged. Completing the quest will let you obtain the Skill Book for Consumables, which can be found either on the table in the bakery bedroom or in Iris’ inventory if she has perished. This book will grant access to purchasing the Blue Fingers, Buff Duration, and Gut Health abilities. The Blue Fingers skill, specifically, is quite handy since it enables players to gather spores, a crucial component of Strange Tonic, from luminescent blue plants.
