Summary
- Series might end sooner than expected despite being well-received.
- Conflicting info: French version hints next chapter as last, Japanese version only points to climax.
- Speculation: Series potentially at risk, not selling as much as expected; may reach its end.
Fans of “Undead Unluck” have come to terms with the fact that the series is nearing its conclusion, and it may even wrap up sooner than anticipated! This anime adaptation, which can be found on Disney+ and Hulu, has been warmly received, leading some to assume that Shonen Jump might stretch out the manga serialization. However, it appears that this isn’t the plan as of now.
In December, news emerged that the series had reached its peak or most intense part, akin to the final scenes in manga stories. This suggested that the story might be drawing to a close, which was an encouraging indication for fans.
Conflicting information regarding the next chapter
In simpler terms, it means that Chapter #238 was published on Sunday, January 19th. The French translation of the series hinted that the upcoming chapter will be the final one.
The text means something like this:
Shall we live life side by side from now on? In the upcoming edition, the final part will be more extensive, taking up a prominent spot, even including a colorful page!
As an observer, I find that the Japanese magazine I’m reading doesn’t explicitly state that the next chapter is the final one. Instead, it hints at the manga reaching its climax. Although these statements don’t necessarily contradict each other, there might be a slight misinterpretation in the French edition of the text.
In simpler terms, the Spanish version of the chapters hints at an exciting conclusion labeled as the “super climax,” while the English version simply says “to be continued,” omitting any reference to a climactic ending.
Is Undead Unluck Being Canceled?
Although it hasn’t been confirmed whether the next installment marks the last one or not, it appears certain that the series is approaching its conclusion. Some fans have speculated that the manga might be discontinued due to this impending end.
It’s been suggested that the series isn’t reaching its full sales potential, but the anime adaptation has helped boost its performance somewhat. For example, Boruto, which is serialized in V-Jump, outperforms Undead Unluck in terms of sales. However, this manga has already accumulated 24 volumes, suggesting that it will conclude with either 25 or 26 volumes – a volume count similar to Jujutsu Kaisen (which completed at 30 volumes).
It appears that after running for over five years, Shonen Jump may have chosen to discontinue it. However, it seems that Shonen Jump might not be planning for titles to run much longer than 4-6 years now, and we might struggle to comprehend the magazine if we continue to view it through the lens of the “Big Three” manga series.
In a little over three years from now, on either January 26 or January 27 (depending on your location), Chapter 239 of this series will make its debut! It’ll be accessible for free through the Manga Plus and Shonen Jump platforms.
