Star Wars: Visions Season 3 Animation Studios Revealed
Lucasfilm is keeping up the momentum with “Star Wars” and has greenlit a third season of “Star Wars: Visions”, as per reports from the Hollywood Reporter following Disney’s content presentation in Singapore. This upcoming season will feature nine fresh tales, crafted by various Japanese animation studios.
- David Production
- Kamikaze Douga + ANIMA
- Kinema Citrus
- Polygon Pictures
- Production I.G.
- Project Studio Q
- TRIGGER
- WIT Studio
Following the global journey of various animation studios in Volume 2 of “Star Wars: Visions”, Volume 3 is set to focus exclusively on Japanese studios once more. Four out of the nine studios listed are returning from earlier seasons, raising speculation about potential sequel narratives within the “Star Wars: Visions” universe. Notably, Kamikaze Douga produced “The Duel” for Volume 1, a tale of a Feudal-Jedi Empire confronting a rogue Jedi sect of Sith. Kinema Citrus brought “The Village Bride” to life in Volume 1, depicting a conflict between bandits in a small village, and Production I.G. created the well-received “The Ninth Jedi” short, which chronicles the establishment of a new Jedi order in the style of “Ghost in the Shell”. The studio behind “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners”, Studio Trigger, will also rejoin to contribute another episode for “Star Wars: Visions”.
The animated series titled “Star Wars: Visions” has been a significant triumph for Lucasfilm, earning two Annie Awards and one Primetime Emmy Award in the category of Best Production Design in Animation. The winning episode was “Screecher’s Reach,” which was created by Cartoon Saloon, a studio based in Ireland. In addition to this success, Marvel Comics has broadened the universe of “Star Wars: Visions” through a comic book one-shot that focuses on the Ronin character from “The Duel,” produced by Kamikaze Douga.
The animated series Star Wars: Visions continues a streak of successful animated productions from the distant galaxy, such as Star Wars Rebels and The Clone Wars. While these animated shows may not always receive as much attention as their live-action counterparts, which tend to feature more well-known stars, they are still worth watching. In fact, the animation aspect of Star Wars is making a significant impact, and Star Wars: Visions is one undervalued series that fans should keep an eye on when Season 3 arrives.
Star Wars: Visions Volumes 1 and 2 are available to watch on Disney+.
