Undisputed Has Sold One Million Copies, Now Esports Is On The Horizon

As a boxing enthusiast with decades of ring-side experience, I can confidently say that Undisputed has truly knocked it out of the park. With one million sales under its belt and an ambitious esports vision, this game is set to reign supreme in the world of virtual boxing. The partnership with the WBC adds a touch of authenticity that’s hard to match, making it a must-play for any boxing fan.

Unquestionably, the first boxing game to garner significant success in over a decade has surpassed one million sales. Launched into early access last year, it was officially released on October 11, captivating boxing enthusiasts globally. In a recent conversation, one of Steel City Interactive’s founders shared insights about this achievement and future plans.

Esports has always been on the table for Undisputed, and it’s about time to realise that vision.;

New Opportunities

In the world of esports, it’s primarily shooter games, Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) titles, and Fighting Game Community (FGC) games that rule the scene. Sports simulations tend not to be as widely played within the esports community, largely due to the fact that actual versions of these sports are easily accessible in reality. After all, isn’t it hard to find competitive-level real-world shootouts these days?

Regardless, Steel City Interactive stands prepared and eager to develop Undisputed into one of the top-tier esports games.

During a chat with GamesIndustry.biz, co-founder of Steel City, Ash Habib, discussed the upcoming rivalry in the world of Undisputed.

Esports was part of the original vision for the game.
In my rephrased version, I’d say: We didn’t want the eSports aspect to appear as an additional feature or something separate from the core experience. Instead, we collaborated with the World Boxing Council (WBC), incorporating an eSports element where victors will be awarded a real WBC belt, presented by Mauricio Sulaimán, the president himself. Essentially, eSports is integral to our vision for Undisputed.

A million sales are merely the beginning for Undisputed. Should the game succeed in establishing a widely-adored esports community, it will stand alone in a class of its own, given that there’s currently no other competition to challenge it.
