As a dedicated boxing game enthusiast with over two decades of virtual gloves under my belt, I must say that Steel City Interactive’s latest patch for Undisputed is a much-needed breath of fresh air! After a rocky launch earlier this year, it’s heartening to see the developers listening to the community and consistently delivering updates with meaningful improvements.
Without a shadow of doubt, Steel City Interactive – the acclaimed developer behind the boxing simulation game – has unveiled the long-awaited December update. This update introduces a host of quality improvements, fresh content, and bug fixes that have been eagerly awaited by fans following the game’s release earlier this year, which was met with several issues. Fortunately, patch 1.2 can now be downloaded and installed on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
Following a prolonged gap in significant boxing video game releases, Steel City Interactive aimed to bridge the gap by launching Undisputed in October. Regrettably, despite spending nearly two years in early access, Undisputed received mixed reviews due to its glitches and sparse career mode. One of the main problems with Undisputed was overly powerful power punches, which numerous players claimed were spoiling the game’s online modes. Fortunately, Steel City tackled this issue in its initial update in November and is now back with additional enhancements.
After the initial update in November by Undisputed, Steel City has launched patch 1.2 across all compatible platforms. This new update introduces two fresh battlegrounds for players: Cambrian Hall, nestled in the core of England’s capital city, and Atlantis, a unique underwater arena resembling an aquarium. In addition to these venues, there are also some new cosmetic items available. Both Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk receive an extra free outfit that lets players simulate the fighters’ historic encounter from earlier this year. These heavyweight champions will face each other once more in a highly-anticipated rematch on December 21, with all three WBA, WBC, and WBO titles at stake.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled about the significant upgrades coming to Undisputed’s career mode with patch 1.2! The official patch notes reveal an exciting new feature: the option to shift between weight classes from my starting point, aiming to rule as the undisputed champion in three distinct divisions. It seems Steel City has also polished up the career mode user interface and incorporated boxing correspondent Gareth A Davies into the career mode media feed for a more immersive experience.
For players entering multiplayer bouts, developers have tweaked Undisputed‘s debatable power punches yet again. Steel City explains that they’ve “minimally decreased” the stamina consumed on missed strikes and power punches, making it easier to execute combination attacks and apply pressure during fights. Additionally, players now have the chance to engage in battles across the Cruiserweight, Bantamweight, and Light Heavyweight divisions, whether it’s quick fights or online ranked matches.
