It’s well known that one of the grandest and widely attended events at the Universal theme parks in Hollywood and Orlando is the Halloween Horror Nights held annually. This event attracts thousands of enthusiasts of Halloween and horror every year, offering a diverse range of haunted houses, scare zones, and themed entertainment. It stands as one of the most significant Halloween events within the theme park industry. Recently, Universal unveiled plans for a continuous horror experience in Las Vegas, and fans have been eagerly awaiting updates. This week, they were finally provided with more details, including the official opening date.

Back in October 2023, I was thrilled to learn about Universal Horror Unleashed, marking the first-ever year-round horror experience from the company. A year later, in October 2024, they unveiled their four main attractions: “The Exorcist: Believer,” “Universal Monsters,” “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” and “Scarecrow The Reaping.” These terrifying delights will now be available in Las Vegas, offering horror enthusiasts like me an uninterrupted experience all year round. Since 2018, the Universal Monsters have been a staple at their events, and they promise that the upcoming Epic Universe park opening at Universal Orlando will feature a substantial area dedicated to the Dark Universe.

This week, Universal announced fresh details about their upcoming Horror Unleashed event, revealing an opening date and additional attractions for visitors to explore. Starting August 14, the chilling experience of Universal Horror Unleashed will be available in Las Vegas’s latest entertainment hub, AREA15, which is conveniently situated near the Vegas Strip. Tickets are now accessible, offering several choices such as a single general admission ticket, a discounted Nevada resident one-time general admission, and an all-day unlimited general admission pass that grants multiple tours of the houses on the day of purchase. Furthermore, Universal Horror Unleashed promises a plethora of themed entertainment, shopping, and dining opportunities for guests to savor.

Universal Horror Will Be Year-Round As Company Expands

This summer, the Universal Horror Unleashed premieres in August, with the Universal Orlando Resort announcing that Halloween Horror Nights will kick off a month earlier than usual this year on August 29 and run through November 2, making it the earliest start date for the event in its 34-year history. Meanwhile, Universal Studios Hollywood will run from September 4 to November 2. Additionally, Universal Hollywood is introducing a new after-hours event for West Coast guests this spring called Universal Fan Fest Nights, which will take place from late April to mid-May and showcase popular franchises like Back to the Future, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Star Trek, among others.

Universal Horror Unleashed is just one of several ventures that Universal Studios is currently working on within the theme park industry. The corporation aims to expand its influence both nationally and internationally, with plans to start construction on a new UK-based theme park this year and set to open its inaugural kid-friendly park, Universal Kids, in Frisco, Texas, by 2026. Moreover, the Universal Orlando Resort is slated to debut Epic Universe this May, encompassing zones inspired by classic monsters from Universal, Super Nintendo World, and Dreamworks’ How To Train Your Dragon. With numerous projects in development, theme park enthusiasts can look forward to exciting developments from the company.
