In Eternal Strands, there isn’t a traditional skill tree. Instead, all player advancement is linked to Strands (magical abilities) and their equipment, such as weapons and armor pieces. This setup makes farming materials for crafting new gear or enhancing current items crucial, enabling players to stay competitive as the challenge level of enemies rises over time.
In the unique crafting mechanism of Eternal Strands, players enjoy a degree of freedom not typically found in conventional systems. Instead of being restricted to specific materials for gear creation, you can choose from various materials within the same category. Each material used will affect the stats differently, with premium materials providing more significant stat enhancements. If you’re considering using Steel in your upgrades, here are some optimal locations in Eternal Strands to gather it.
Best Locations To Farm Steel In Eternal Strands
Steel is classified as a moderately strong forged resource, not ideal for advancement in mid-game or end-game realms, but an effective choice for newcomers to enhance their current gear and boost their stats substantially.
Glintwood Hollow
In Glintwood Hollow, you’ll consistently find Steel or Bronze ores at two main spots. As indicated by a red line on the provided map, these ores can be found on overhanging, slender ledges. Interestingly, there are always three rocks lining each marked pathway on the map.
Dredger’s Mire
In this area, farming Steel might be riskier than Glintwood Hollow, but if you’re determined to go there, don’t forget to check out the western part of The Akron’s Expanse. There’s a large cliff there with some Steel or Bronze ores at its base.
The west side of The Akron’s Expanse can be riskier for farming Steel compared to Glintwood Hollow, but if you choose to go there, it’s worth taking a look. At the foot of a large cliff in this region, you’ll find some Steel or Bronze ores.
Using the initial equipment, players can only inflict damage on Steel or Bronze ores by performing a charged melee strike. A regular melee attack won’t cause any harm, while a bow attack will yield only negligible damage.
In the initial stages of the game, Steel will emerge as an exceptional Forged Material for players to enhance their weapons and armor components. It boasts a +12 damage advantage over the standard Sword and Shield. As a neutral ore, Steel neither enhances nor diminishes Cold or Heat resistance.
In the game Eternal Strands, higher-tier areas continue to produce Steel from chests and other resources, but it can be challenging to locate Steel ore deposits, as they are often replaced with Serenite or Candescite ores. Notably, Candescite is a superior Forged Material, offering more substantial stat enhancements compared to Steel.
Although Steel may not play a crucial role towards the end of the game, players can continue to mine and exchange it for Camp Supplies, which are essential for upgrading workshops at the camp. The need for Camp Supplies will escalate significantly from Level 3 onwards, so it’s advisable to stockpile Steel ores in the camp for future upgrades despite having no immediate use for them.
