Unleash the Chaos: Trials of Osiris Gets Transformed in Destiny 2’s Upcoming Episode!

Summary

  • Bungie plans to overhaul Destiny 2’s Trials of Osiris for Episode Heresy to improve its appeal and reward system.
  • The “flawless or bust” mechanic will be replaced, allowing players to reach the Lighthouse after 7 wins with better rewards for those who were on a streak.
  • To enhance gameplay, Bungie will focus on combat in Trials of Osiris by modifying Fireteam-Based Matchmaking and zone captures.

In February, when Episode Heresy was launched, Bungie unveiled significant adjustments for Destiny 2’s competitive multiplayer mode, Trials of Osiris, which was initially renowned in the original Destiny game. After an unsuccessful attempt to replicate this experience with Trials of the Nine, Bungie decided to reinstate the Trials of Osiris in Destiny 2.

Over time, the Trials of Osiris in Destiny 2 has been experiencing a decrease in player engagement and enthusiasm. Bungie has tried various modifications to this game mode, such as introducing new weapons and making it more lucrative and user-friendly through vendor upgrades. Regrettably, these changes haven’t significantly improved the game mode, so Bungie is now aiming for a radical transformation.

In a recent blog post, Bungie announced significant changes to Trials of Osiris within Destiny 2 when Episode Heresy debuts. These alterations are aimed at enhancing the mode’s appeal and enjoyment for all players. Not only will they make the mode more rewarding overall, but they also aim to optimize gameplay by shifting focus from objectives to combat. To achieve this goal, Bungie is refining Fireteam-Based Matchmaking and delaying zone captures slightly, making them take a bit longer.

Destiny 2 Makes Lighthouse Runs Easier to Achieve

In the game Trials of Osiris, previously, the top reward for achieving 7 consecutive victories was a trip to a Mercury simulation of the Lighthouse. However, in an upcoming update, Bungie is abandoning the “flawless or fail” rule and replacing it with a system that grants access to the Lighthouse after accumulating 7 wins overall. Although 7 remains the goal, even with losses, players who maintain a winning streak can secure better rewards; those with 5 or more victories will have access to rare items such as Ciphers, Ghost Shells, Flawless Emblems, and armor glows. Essentially, all players, regardless of skill level, now have the opportunity to reach the Lighthouse, where they can acquire new equipment, weapons, and even a new armor set.

As we approach the release of Episode Heresy in just a few weeks, Bungie has been quite transparent about the numerous changes they’re planning for Destiny 2. Most recently, the studio disclosed significant updates that will be made to the subclasses and abilities within the game, such as the addition of a new arc trait called Bolt Charge. This new feature is designed to emphasize even more the momentum-based style of gameplay in Destiny 2.
