In “Assassin’s Creed: Shadow,” players can interact with a variety of animals freely roaming throughout the expansive game world. It’s soothing to pause amidst the chaos of battle, spend some tranquil moments stroking these adorable creatures, and then move on to the next mission. Interestingly, the game also provides an option for you to collect all these animals and bring them back to your Hideout as you gradually unlock them. This tutorial will walk you through the process of unlocking these pets and adding them to your Hideout in “AC: Shadow.
How to Unlock Pets in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, I found myself strolling through a breathtaking open-world landscape teeming with diverse creatures. As a fervent admirer of these magnificent beasts, I was thrilled to discover that I could collect them as pets for my Hideout!
Unfortunately, there’s no system in place that allows me to bring these pets along during my adventures through Feudal Japan. However, I’ve managed to uncover several methods to obtain these adorable companions:
1. Rescuing animals from perilous situations
2. Completing specific missions or side quests involving the animals
3. Locating hidden caches containing the necessary resources for taming an animal
4. Finding and interacting with animal-specific landmarks or points of interest in the world
By following these methods, I’ve been able to amass quite a collection of unique pets!
- Petting animals in the open world, mostly inside shrines, temples, and villages.
- Buying pets from the Ornament Vendor located inside various villages.
- Completing random open-world Sumi-E paintings whenever there’s an animal nearby. There’s a high chance the painted animal will be unlocked as a pet.
Here’s a quick list of all the animals that players can unlock in their Hideout.

How to Add Pets to the Hideout
In AC Shadows, to put pets in your Hideout, players must first enter the construction mode. Then, they should navigate to the animal section, find the specific pet they desire and choose it for their Hideout.
After selecting an animal, feel free to pick one of the available spots to put it in your Hideout. You are allowed to have multiple copies of the same animal, but remember, the maximum number of animals you can have in total is capped at 30.
