Unlock Customization in Xenoblade X: House of Cards Walkthrough Revealed!

As a gamer immersed in the expansive world of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, I stumbled upon a seemingly routine sidequest titled “House of Cards.” However, this unassuming mission holds a crucial role – it’s the key to customizing my character’s appearance. Upon arriving at New Los Angeles in this vibrant game, I didn’t have immediate access to this feature.

To unlock the avatar customization, there are two essential requirements you need to fulfill first. Here’s a breakdown of what I had to do to complete the “House of Cards” mission:

1. Progress through the main story until reaching New Los Angeles.
2. Complete the sidequest titled “A Friend in Need.” This quest will help me gain access to Yardley, who holds the keycard I need for the avatar customization.
3. Find and speak with Yardley, who will then give me the keycard as a reward for completing his quest.
4. With the keycard now in my possession, I can finally unlock the avatar customization feature and start shaping my character’s look to fit my gaming style!

House of Cards Mission Guide

Where is Yardley’s Keycard? (Keycard Location)

The game ‘House of Cards’ is ready for pick-up at the task board in NLA. To trigger the quest, make sure you have fulfilled these prerequisites first:

  • “Yardley’s Scheme” (available after Chapter 3)
  • Chapter 5

To find “House of Cards,” you should look up Yardley’s keycard within the administrative area. Utilizing the navigation/guidance that Tatsu provides will direct you towards a restricted hangar situated beneath the administrative district.

Yardley’s keycard is placed within a pair of red cargo containers that are stacked on top of white ones, situated in the elevated western part of the Restricted Hangar. On your map, you’ll find its position nestled between Armor Alley and the spot where you initiate the “Booming Business” mission, which is Regina’s store.

Please consult the provided pictures to identify the precise spot where the keycard is located on the map, as well as its position within the Restricted Hangar.

The map displays only the upper level of NLA. Once within the Restricted Hangar, your goal should be the location marked by the blue arrow in the given picture. If you attempt to locate it elsewhere, especially outside Armor Alley, you will come up empty-handed.

How to Reach the Restricted Hangar

It seems that you might have found the notable spot or fast-travel location for the Restricted Hangar Entrance. If not, head towards the elevator situated south of Division Drive’s landmark. Please look for the blue diamond and red arrows indicated on the previously shown image for guidance.

Return Yardley’s Keycard

After obtaining your keycard, make your way to “Barista Court” located within the bustling “Commercial District”. You’ll find Yardley marked with a prominent symbol on the map. Visit during the daytime hours to submit your keycard there.

Regardless of the options you select, you won’t receive the promised 100,000 credits. Instead, Yardley will propose a meeting at an unusual hour. If you examine your map, there will be a fresh objective marker in the Administrative District, situated specifically beneath it.

Yardley’s Hideaway Location

To get to Yardley’s Hideaway, you should first lift the elevator in the Restricted Hangar. Once the elevator moves away, leap beneath it. You’ll find yourself submerged in a body of water below NLA. If you’re using the Follow Ball, swim towards the blue objective marker. Yardley’s Hideaway is obstructed by some storage containers that you’ll need to leap over.

How to Change Your Appearance

Can You Change Your Name?

If you don’t receive 100000 credits, Yardley unveils a device that alters the appearance of your character’s Mimeosome. Just walk up to the capsule and hit the ‘A’ button.

The machine is restricted for use exclusively during the wee hours of the night, specifically from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 am. You have the ability to adjust the time manually by temporarily halting the game, navigating to System, and then selecting Change Time. Furthermore, your character is not allowed to wear ‘gender-specific’ equipment like Grenada Swimwear (designed for females).

You’re unable to modify the character name at this point, but feel free to adjust other aspects such as their voice or appearance. To alter the character’s gender, simply pick the first available option in the prompts that follow.
