The latest update for God of War Ragnarok, version 6.02, has been released! It brings a host of new cosmetic items and an exciting new feature. This is the second patch for God of War Ragnarok to be rolled out this year, 2025.

As a die-hard fan, I was thrilled when Sony Santa Monica’s iconic series dropped its latest installment on PlayStation consoles last November in 2022. It wasn’t until September 2024 that PC gamers like me got to join the fun. Since then, this game has seen a total of 17 updates, with the latest being the God of War Ragnarok update 6.01, which was released way back in January 2025.

A new update, labeled 6.02, has surfaced on March 20th, preceding the 20th anniversary of the God of War series by merely two days. This fresh addition offers an array of cosmetics, reminiscent of earlier installments in the franchise, as a way to celebrate the upcoming milestone. The novelty items are presented as the Dark Odyssey Collection, boasting dark and golden armor for Kratos, complete with a breastplate, belt, and braces. In addition, Freya and Atreus have been adorned with coordinating outfits within this latest release.

Aside from armor, the Dark Odyssey Collection offers new skins for Kratos’s weapons such as the Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and Draupnir Spear in gold and black. This collection also includes alternate looks for weapon accessories like the Leviathan Axe Knob following the 6.02 update. Moreover, the Dark Odyssey treatment has been given to about six shields and the Rönd attachment as well.

To obtain these cosmetics inspired by GoW 2, gamers must finish God of War Ragnarok on its most challenging setting, God Mode. This feat requires mastering enemy moves since the hardest difficulty level has narrow parrying opportunities and demands players to mostly deflect damage because everything hits so hard. An additional hurdle in overcoming this difficulty is the absence of checkpoints during boss battles, which means defeating the toughest adversary without committing significant errors.

In the game ‘God of War Ragnarok’, only top-tier versions of supported weapons, shields, armors, and attachments can be showcased through The Dark Odyssey Collection. To utilize this feature, players must fully upgrade any equipment they wish to personalize. Meanwhile, the 6.02 update has rolled out an “Edit Appearance” option for weapon and shield accessories, essentially offering a transmog system where players can blend different visuals and functionalities of equipment. Simultaneously, the March 2025 patch became available on PS4, PS5, and PC systems.

Edit Appearance for Weapon and Shield Attachments

In this latest update, we’ve introduced the Dark Odyssey weapon modifications and a new shield called ‘rönd’. As a result, you can now customize the look of these parts of Kratos’ equipment using the ‘Edit Appearance’ tool.
