As a devoted fan, I’ve noticed that in many Musou games, including classics like Dynasty Warriors and its spinoffs such as Persona 5 Strikers, we engage enemies, earn EXP from battles to level up. However, the leveling-up system in the latest addition, Dynasty Warriors: Origins, has a unique twist that might take veteran players by surprise.
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, players will mainly manage a single character, known as The Wanderer, who possesses the standard abilities seen in previous Musou games. This includes battling and slashing foes, as well as executing special attacks. We’ll explore various methods to enhance The Wanderer, such as increasing stats, improving gear effectiveness, and more.
5. Test Weapons
Also Levels You Up
Enhancing The Wanderer’s potency can be achieved primarily by upgrading weapons. In combat, as players employ different weapons, they accumulate Experience Points (EXP). Once sufficient EXP is gained, the expertise in that specific weapon type will escalate. As new tiers of weapons are unlocked, an equivalent level increment will occur for The Wanderer, enhancing its stats. Although it may seem unconventional, this leveling-up method proves effective once players adapt to it. To swiftly accumulate levels, it’s advisable to alternate weapon types during battles. Players begin with a sword and soon acquire a spear, among other weapons.
Swap between these two weapons and others you’ll encounter later on. It might seem logical to perfect one weapon first before moving onto another, but doing so won’t boost your hero’s progress as swiftly. While it’s perfectly fine to discard a weapon type that doesn’t suit your taste in the game, I’d recommend giving them all a try initially. To wrap things up, in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, horses gain experience through usage, but they won’t aid The Wanderer in leveling up.
4. Getting Better Weapons
Look Out For Bonuses
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, merely enhancing a weapon won’t automatically make The Wanderer more powerful. This game shares similarities with Diablo in that there’s an abundance of loot scattered across battlefields or obtained through other means. Regular weapons like spears and long swords will continue to drop consistently. However, these weapons differ not only in their attack power but also in the bonuses they offer. These can include perks that speed up player recovery of the Musou Gauge, boost player running speed, and more.
Instead of focusing solely on a weapon’s tough numbers, it’s worth paying attention to its bonuses since they often prove more advantageous. In addition to weapons, players can also discover items with multiple abilities embedded within them. These can primarily be obtained through skirmishes that are loosely connected to the main storyline. While these skirmishes are shorter than the major story battles, they are longer than the random encounters you might stumble upon in the game world. By effectively combining bonuses from both weapons and items, players will have an upper hand during combat.
3. Look Into Arts
They Are Everywhere
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, every weapon comes equipped with a powerful Musou attack that becomes available once sufficient energy is built up. Additionally, there’s an enhanced combat feature called Battle Arts – these aren’t as destructive as special attacks but they certainly come in handy. Players can assign these Battle Arts to various face buttons on the PS5 controller, such as Triangle, Square, Circle, and Cross. Notably, some Battle Arts are universal and can be used with any weapon, while others require the specific weapon to be equipped for their activation.
Each Battle Art can be honed to boost its power, and the method for leveling up isn’t immediately obvious. Contrary to what might be assumed, the number associated with each art isn’t a tally of kills; rather, it represents the number of times players employ the move during battle. For instance, if a Battle Art can advance after 80 uses, players will need to execute it 80 times. Keeping track of this can be tricky given the multitude of arts available in the game, but rest assured, mastering them will make The Wanderer an intimidating opponent indeed.
2. Apply Skills Points To A Tree
The Secret Is Easy
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, one type of currency that’s quite accessible to obtain is Skill Points. You can accumulate these primarily by racking up kills – for every 100 kills in a mission, players receive three Skill Points. Additionally, you might be awarded Skill Points when you upgrade your weapon or finish specific side missions like Training missions for certain major characters. Skill Points can then be invested in a straightforward skill system that starts with three tiers to begin with.
As a dedicated fan, I can tell you that I’m always improving my character’s abilities in this game. I boost defense stats or learn new Battle Arts, which adds a strategic depth to combat. The skill tree has multiple branches, but it’s generally straightforward to progress, with each new tier unlocking more possibilities. Even though the skill tree might seem simple for an RPG, it’s crucial for enhancing The Wanderer’s power. Therefore, knowing about the kill count trick to accumulate skill points swiftly is definitely beneficial.
1. Craft Gems
Hunting For Pyroxene
On the global map, you’ll spot groupings of rustic-hued rocks. Unlike in Minecraft, these clusters don’t require a pickaxe for mining and instead grant you Pyroxene. This basic mineral can be employed to fashion gems within Dynasty Warriors: Origins, either at Inns or battle camps. However, the type of gem you can manufacture is predetermined.
The overall structure seems reminiscent of a free-to-play game model similar to gacha games, with elements of randomness. Upon obtaining the Eyes of the Sacred Bird, some randomness will be less widespread and confined to specific categories. However, let’s clarify that equipping gems functions similarly to adding accessories, but in this case, gems can be leveled up more effortlessly. The luck factor comes into play when trying to secure powerful abilities, but given the abundance of Pyroxene, it’s worth taking a chance!
