Chapter 4 Walkthrough Part 1 – Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

New York City Underground – Path to Dragon Save Point 1:

In NInja Gaiden 2 Black’s third chapter, “Thunderclap of Catastrophe,” concludes with Ryu Hayabusa overpowering the Death Megalo Flyer in the wreckage of the New York City subway system. The fourth chapter commences immediately after the end of the third one, with Ryu still navigating a tunnel. To initiate “A Captive Goddess,” continue on your journey through the tunnel.

A short while after setting off from the starting point, you’ll run into some aerial enemies who hurl fireballs. The ‘Fiend’s Bane Bow’ can easily eliminate these creatures with a single shot. Once you’ve dispatched them, you’ll spot Chapter 4’s first Muramasa Statue Store on the right side of the tunnel. If you have the necessary essence, consider improving your preferred weapon at this location.

As you progress deeper into the tunnel, you’ll find groups of flying foes coming at you. Reaching the end of this initial tunnel brings you face-to-face with a horde of entry-level Black Spider Ninjas. At the termination of your journey, there lies a heap of wrecked trains and debris. Step directly towards the pile, and you’ll discover a hole in the ground that leads to the next section of the main pathway.

Immediately upon reaching the lower level, a band of ninjas will ambush you. Defeat them, then proceed to the left side of the chamber where you’ll discover a chest holding the third Ninpo, The Art of Wind Blades. After obtaining it, expect another group of ninjas to attack. Clear them out, and continue past the chest and around the train cars; there you will be attacked again.

Following your victory over the last band of ninjas, keep an eye for a blazing red light along the tracks ahead. Prior to proceeding any further, veer left and inspect the debris heap’s rear side. You’ll discover another treasure chest hidden behind the pile, which is opposite the initial one. This second chest houses Red Energy Orbs. Now you may move forward towards the red light.

Once you go past the red traffic light, you’ll come across a place resembling a station with platforms on both sides. As soon as you step inside, you’ll be confronted by larger, intimidating enemies. Defeat these foes, and search for the exit on the platform to your left. It is a modest staircase ascending to an upper area.

At the top of the first set of stairs, you’ll find the first Dragon Save Point.

Exit the Subway – Path to Save Point 2:

Starting from your initial respawn spot, climb the stairs leading to the small train station room. Be aware that this area is filled with adversaries, so stay alert. Once you’ve defeated them all, you’ll discover two treasure chests; one is located behind each of the rooms’ partitioning gates. On one side, you’ll uncover a Herb of Spiritual Life, and on the opposite side, you’ll find a substantial Red Ki Orb.

In this version, I’ve tried to maintain the original meaning while making the instructions more conversational and easier to understand.

When you find the partially concealed chest next to the cabinet and open it, you’ll be surprised by an immediate attack. Further inside, there’s another chest tucked away in a small room on the back wall that holds Blue Health Orbs. After gathering everything in the area, proceed up the stairs. You’ll encounter a gate barring your way. To pass, strike the gate. However, as soon as you do so, a common ninja will attack you.

At the last set of steps, you’ll reach ground-floor street level in New York City. Just out of the subway, you may encounter several ‘blade dogs’, which you should handle first. Subsequently, navigate towards the border of the area, close to a small railing. A hidden path will only become apparent once you reach the end of the fence.

As a keen explorer, circling the enclosure reveals a narrow path to tread upon. Upon reaching the pillars supporting the structure above, take a right turn and you’ll stumble upon another band of ninjas. After vanquishing them, look ahead and you’ll notice an alley sandwiched between buildings. Should you venture through the rear section, you’ll unearth a Herb of Spiritual Life resting on a lifeless body in a hidden nook.

Emerging from the narrow passageways, you’ll spot Dragon Save Point 3 nestled against a wall, right next to a ladder’s foot. But before activating the save point, feel free to gather the initial Crystal Skull on your way.

On the opposite side of the fence from the safe spot, you might observe a store and a chest as well. For now, disregard them, as you will have the chance to access them at a later time.

The first Crystal Skull in chapter 4 is on a small ledge above the alley.

Starting from your last checkpoint, make your way back to the narrow passage, then take a left turn. Once there, you’ll notice a wall as shown in the accompanying images. Run along the wall and jump around the corner, aiming for the platform above to grab the skull. You can also find this demonstrated in the video tutorial available at the top.

After completing your tasks, feel free to revisit the second safe spot and proceed to the following part of the primary route.

Above the City – Path to Save Point 3:

Upon departing from save point 2, your initial action should be to ascend nearly to the summit of the nearby rung-like structure. Just shy of the peak, perform a somersault in mid-air, leap off the ladder, and you’ll find yourself on a road behind you. At the terminus of this path, there’s a container holding Yellow Essence, which you can acquire. After that, you can descend and return up the ladder.

At the peak of the ladder, veer left, and you’ll stumble upon a Demon Seal’s Treasure on a corpse in the center of the pathway. Carry on straight ahead to the end of the road, and to your right, you’ll notice a small damaged portion of the wall. Traverse through that opening, then take an immediate right turn, and you’ll be ambushed by hulking fiend adversaries. You’ll also encounter numerous airborne fiends in this area.

After slaying the monsters, carry on down the path. Keep an eye out for a damaged fence on your right. When you notice it’s broken, glance over to a tiny platform where Crystal Skull 2 is perched. Before leaping over, walk to the end of the road to discover another chest filled with Grains of Spiritual Life. Once found, return and leap to the skull.

After obtaining the skull, skip using the ladder just yet. Instead, leap from the low platform directly to ground level. This is where you’ll find both a Store and a chest hidden behind the fence close to Save Point 2. The chest conceals a “Life of the Gods.” After departing from the store, you’ll encounter hordes of large enemies. Search for a substantial concrete construction that seems like it was part of a wall. You can leverage this to perform consecutive wall-jumps, propelling yourself all the way up to the top of the building.

At the summit, you’ll find yourself on an elevated pathway. A new band of imposing adversaries awaits you here. Overcome them, and proceed downwards towards a barricade obstructing the road. You’ll discover a ladder ascending to Save Point 4 – Dragon’s Retreat.

How to Beat Godamus in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black:

Starting from my last save spot, just before I venture towards the bridge tower, I should spin around and bolt away from it, all the way down the wooden path. There, I’ll stumble upon a chest filled with precious Yellow Essence. After securing that, I need to make a beeline for the suspension tower on the Brooklyn Bridge. As I approach the tower, a cutscene will kick off automatically. This sets up an intense mid-level boss battle against Godamus.

Godamus possesses immense power and inflicts substantial harm with every blow. Here are some of his attack methods:

1. Mega Punch: A devastating punch that delivers a massive amount of force, leaving opponents reeling.
2. Energy Blast: An energy-infused beam that sears through targets, causing catastrophic damage.
3. Ground Slam: A powerful slam that sends enemies flying high into the air and crashing back down with immense force.
4. Whirlwind Kick: A spinning kick that sweeps up opponents in a whirlwind, tossing them away with incredible speed and power.

  • Fist slam: Watch for the arm raising up, and prepare to dodge.Godamus will slam his massive fist into the ground.
  • Palm Slam: When you get in close, Godamus will raise both arms and slam his palms on the ground. Hard to dodge.
  • Arm Sweep: This is another attack Goadamus uses when you get in close. They sweep their arms across the ground in front of them. Try to jump over.
  • Sonic Waves: Godamus appears to use his voice to create a massive wave attack that pushes Ryu back.
  • Rock Projectile: Godamus can throw large boulders they pull from the ground. They can be dodged. Blocking will break your stance.

Approach Godamus cautiously after an initial assault, as they tend to launch multiple attacks at the start of a battle. At higher skill levels, a single series of attacks from Godamus could defeat you. However, if you manage to land powerful strikes, you can momentarily stun Godamus, providing an opportunity for your own combination attacks.

The main objective is to skillfully evade Godamus’ assaults, followed by moving in for multiple strikes. Since Godamus is particularly weak against Ninpo, remember to employ them frequently. If you possess Devil’s Way Mushrooms, ensure to replenish your Ki to perform a total of six Ninpo attacks.

Chapter 4 Walkthrough Part 2 – Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

Outside Lady Liberty – Path to Save Point 4:

Following your victory over Godamus, it’s Sonia who arrives in her helicopter, whisking you away to a petite island that harbors an uncannily familiar statue – the one and only Statue of Liberty. For the remainder of this chapter, your objective is to penetrate this colossal figure, eventually reaching its uppermost level. The adventure commences on the lush front lawn, where numerous formidable adversaries charge at you. Once these foes are subdued, you’ll be granted access to the main structure.

Once you’ve gained entry, make a left turn towards the museum section. Inside, you’ll spot “Dragon Save Point 4” enclosed within a glass display case. Feel free to approach and tap on the glass case to access the save point.

To the Top – Path to Save Point 5:

Starting from checkpoint 4, proceed deeper into the museum section, and you’ll spot a fresh weapon in a glass display case beside the replica of the Statue of Liberty’s foot. This new weapon is known as Enma’s Fang, an enormous greatsword that ranks among the top weapons in the game. Close by, you’ll find a manuscript titled “The Vigoor Mythology“.

After checkpoint 4, move ahead into the museum area. There, you’ll discover a new weapon – Enma’s Fang, a big greatsword that is one of the best in the game. Near it, you can pick up a manuscript called “The Vigoor Mythology”.

Obtaining the sword will cause a gate to your left to ascend, revealing a hitherto locked door. Proceed down the corridor and into the subsequent room. Along the way, you’ll encounter two ninja in the hall, followed by more once you step into the larger space. Defeat these adversaries to discover a Devil’s Way Mushroom on an upper level corpse.

As a gamer, I gotta smash through that towering pane of glass up high, opposite from the stairs, ’cause if I don’t, a hulking monster’s gonna barrel in. Once I handle that beast, I gots to bounce down to the yard, then take a look at those two wooden staircases flanking the structure. One’s a no-go and the other leads me up to where I need to be.

To maintain your health, abstain from using any items. Prior to ascending, locate a chest nestled in the grass by the obstructed staircase. Inside this chest, you’ll discover some Blue Health Restoration Items. With these at hand, proceed up the stairs, be prepared for more enemies along the way. Defeat them and continue climbing the stone steps until you reach a square base resembling the pedestal of Lady Liberty. This base will have doors on all four sides, but only one will be open. Be cautious as you approach each corner, as flying enemies may lurk there.

Inside a compact room, there’s a central elevator tower that should be avoided until you’ve retrieved the Crystal Skull in its final location. To get the ‘Lives of the Thousand Gods’ item, first, eliminate the pesky archers stationed at ground level and on an upper walkway. After defeating them all, move towards the staircase. Before ascending, slip into the tiny room right before the stairs. Inside this room, you’ll discover a chest holding a ‘Lives of the Thousand Gods’ item.

Next, ascend the stairs, and there you’ll find Dragon Save Point 5. Don’t hesitate to save your progress, but prior to departing, leap over the concrete barrier on the left side of the save point.

As a gamer, I’d advise you to drop down onto a metallic catwalk reminiscent of a walkway. If you peer below, you’ll spot the third Crystal Skull on another catwalk structure, one floor lower than yours. Should you struggle to find it, refer to the provided images and video for assistance. Once I’ve got the skull in my hands, I can make my way back to ground level and use wall-jumps to ascend the elevator shaft.

Path to Alexei:

At the highest point in the elevator tower, you’ll end up in an unoccupied chamber. Climb the stairs to reach the next floor and you’ll stumble upon a group of ninjas. Overpower them, then seek out a door that leads to a balcony, right before another set of stairs. On the balcony, you’ll come across numerous airborne adversaries, but you’ll also discover the last treasure chest, holding a lone Life of the Gods.

First, make your way up the staircase, and you’ll encounter a Muramasa Store just prior to another spiral staircase. If you need to restock on items or enhance your weapons, now would be an ideal moment. Right before entering the stairs, you’ll come across some Grains of Spiritual Life – be mindful not to squander your essence by buying them unnecessarily.

Follow the winding staircase upwards until you spot a damaged wall on your left side. Your objective is to bounce off the outer wall and the sides of the stairs, propelling yourself back and forth towards the upper level. Upon bursting through the tiny hole in the ceiling above, you’ll discover “‘The Four Greater Fiends, Part 2’” on a deceased body. Subsequently, there will be another staircase waiting for you, and once you ascend to the top, a cutscene will play automatically.

How to Beat Alexei in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black:

In our battle with Alexei, we primarily relied on using Enma’s Fang as our strategy, which proved effective. Alexei, generally, doesn’t employ a vast array of attacks. The objective is to circumvent the highly dangerous electric attacks that Alexei often employs. Here’s a general rundown of the attacks that Alexei uses:

1. Electric Shockwave: A powerful wave of electricity that can knock opponents off their feet and cause significant damage.
2. Electro-Grapple: Alexei wraps his fists with electrical energy to immobilize opponents before delivering a crushing blow.
3. Lightning Bolt: Alexei shoots a bolt of lightning from his fingertips, which can be deadly if not dodged or blocked quickly.
4. Electric Shield: Alexei surrounds himself with an electric shield that deflects attacks and can trap opponents inside it.
5. Energy Blast: Alexei unleashes a powerful energy wave that causes damage over a large area.
6. Electro-Drain: Alexei saps the energy from his opponents, restoring his own strength in the process.

  • Electric Orbs: Aleixei releases fast-moving electric orbs that seek Ryu out. You must be quick to dodge these, but if you can do so, you’ll have a brief chance to attack. This was Alexei’s most common attack in our fight. Ryu can also block this attack.
  • Whirldwind: Alexei spins in a circle, creating a whirlwind that does a lot of damage.
  • Electric Pulse: Alexei creates a large ball of electricity around himself, damaging Ryu if he is within the circle.

Apart from his relentless assaults, Alexei chases Ryu aggressively throughout the battlefield. To effectively handle this situation, make ample use of the counter feature whenever possible. Don’t hesitate to keep the block button pressed during Alexei’s rapid attacks, which can be challenging to time accurately. With persistence, you will successfully counter him, earning a substantial health boost in return.

In more challenging modes of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, it’s significantly harder to defeat Alexei. We’re currently working on the most effective strategies for these encounters and will promptly update our guides once we have them.
