Unlock Naoe’s Deadliest Skills in Assassin’s Creed Shadows!

Summary

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows brings back lore with ninja assassins and samurais for a fresh experience.
  • Key skills like Improved Sense and Shoji Door Assassination enhance stealth gameplay.
  • Abilities like Double Assassinate and Nightcrawler offer strategic advantages in combat.

As a devoted fan, I must admit that my initial foray into the captivating world of Assassin’s Creed took place back in 2007, where I found myself in the role of Altair, a skilled assassin hailing from the Middle East. The concept was intriguing and seamlessly blended with the historical backdrop of The Crusades, making it quite believable to see assassins roaming around in white robes.

However, it becomes slightly more challenging to swallow the premise when we leap into other instalments such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. This game transports us to the era of the Vikings – a fascinating setting, but one that seems a bit less intuitive for the presence of assassins. Yet, it is this very juxtaposition that makes the series all the more intriguing and keeps me eagerly awaiting each new adventure!

Finally, Assassin’s Creed Shadows aligns with a logical narrative standpoint as ninjas were essentially assassins serving the shogunate. The character Naoe assumes the role of the ninja in this game, while her companion, Yasuke, is a samurai. Notably, one of Naoe’s six skill trees is named ‘Assassin’, so let’s delve into this lethal path and select some essential abilities for her to excel in.

6. Improved Sense

Eagle Vision’s Effects Last Longer

One distinctive feature in the game series is the ability known as Eagle Sight, which Naoe possesses but Yasuke hasn’t mastered yet. However, Yasuke can still mark enemies within the environment, ensuring he’s not entirely disadvantaged. Players get access to this ability once they begin controlling Naoe, and there is an enhancement for it called Enhanced Perception in the Assassin skill development tree.

In “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”, using Eagle Vision to tag enemies after they exit your vision will keep them marked in either yellow or red for longer. This is particularly beneficial during castle raids because you can see through walls with Eagle Vision. As a skilled ninja like Naoe, every advantage counts.

5. Shoji Door Assassination

Kill Enemies Through Paper Doors

In this game, you’ll seldom encounter traditional Western-style doors. Instead, the buildings are often fortified with thick wooden boards or have lightweight paper doors. The thrill comes from tearing down those paper doors in a ninja or samurai setting, providing players a tiny taste of destructibility.

In the game ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’, those wanting to maintain a covert approach can acquire the Shoji Door Assassination skill. This ability lets players eliminate enemies by passing through paper doors, providing a unique thrill that surpasses the destruction of them. These traditional Japanese doors offer better visibility for enemies, especially with Eagle Vision or when illuminated by candlelight in dimly lit areas.

4. Double Assassinate

Kill Two Enemies At Once With A Tanto

In the game “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” the Double Assassinate skill proves incredibly valuable. Regardless if players approach enemies from behind or strike them from above, they can employ a tanto and their hidden blade simultaneously to eliminate two foes. This ability is positioned just above the Shoji Door Assassination, which seems peculiar given that executing a double kill through paper doors tends to be quite challenging.

If players successfully perform one of these feats, they will achieve legendary ninja status. However, it’s crucial that players increase their Knowledge Points swiftly to reach tier level two and unlock Double Assassinate. This can be accomplished by visiting shrines or mastering Kuji-kiri. It’s worth mentioning that there are six Knowledge tiers for each skill tree within the game.

3. Vigor 1

More Vigor, More Chances To Use Abilities

The last two abilities we discussed were passive ones, and Vigor 1 falls into that category as well. But unlike the others, Vigor 1 can support active skills across various skill trees such as Katana. Active skills can be allocated to face buttons on a controller like an Xbox Series X, so they would be assigned to X, Y, A, and B.

As a gamer, in this RPG, I notice that using certain abilities comes with a cooldown, but they also need Adrenaline, which are diamond-shaped icons located next to Naoe’s health meter. The more enemies attack Naoe, the more these Adrenaline diamonds recharge. Each use of Vigor 1 increases Naoe’s Adrenaline reserves by one, and every higher tier of Vigor does the same.

2. Nightcrawler

Do More Damage At Night

In the game “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”, Nightcrawler is a skill that assists players during nighttime situations. When attacking a castle or large complex, it’s advisable to do so at night with Naoe. On the other hand, Yasuke can overcome obstacles and enemies with minimal resistance regardless of the time of day.

In simpler terms, the Nightcrawler ability enhances damage during night-time, especially when engaging in head-on fights or assassination attempts against bigger opponents. Although the boost isn’t significant, it can be amplified with other skills. For instance, the Katana skill tree increases melee damage for all three weapons, making them extremely powerful at night, when combined with Nightcrawler.

1. Executioner

Vulnerable Enemies Take More Damage

In the game “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” the role of an executioner might not seem as appealing as one might imagine, since Naoe won’t be wielding a massive axe like those portrayed in U.K. executions. However, it remains functional within the game. When players succeed in breaking through an enemy’s armor or countering an attack, there’s a possibility that the foe will become temporarily exhausted for a few seconds.

As a fan, I’d express it like this: “I’ll make enemies glow with a yellow tint, signaling they’re weakened and susceptible to higher damage. With the Executioner skill, I can pierce through their armor and inflict critical hits when they’re off-balance. To enhance my ninja abilities even further, I can activate Guard Breaker, a skill that almost guarantees breaking their armor. When combined with Executioner, it makes for a more potent ninja.
