In Stardew Valley, farmers gradually expand their estates and unlock the chance to house a variety of animals within designated barn structures. Most animals in Stardew Valley can be procured from Marnie, but certain ones require unique methods for acquisition.
Among the fascinating creatures that some experienced gamers of Stardew Valley might not be acquainted with are dinosaurs. While some may be aware of the Pepper Rex foes lurking in Skull Cavern, they might not know about the dinosaurs that players can nurture in their farm coops.
How to Get Dinosaur Egg
Dinosaur Egg Locations in Stardew Valley (1.6)
In the game ‘Stardew Valley’, there are several methods to obtain a Dinosaur Egg. The most popular way is by defeating Pepper Rex creatures within the Skull Cavern. With the recent update version 1.6, a fresh approach to acquiring a Dinosaur Egg has been added to the gameplay.
- When you’re exploring Skull Cavern, you may end up on a Prehistoric Floor. The Prehistoric Floors are Infested Floors that have a very low percentage of spawning from Floor 7 and lower with some exceptions. Here, you can fight Pepper Rex enemies, which have a 10% chance of dropping a Dinosaur Egg upon defeat.
- You can win a Dinosaur Egg during any season from the Crane Game at the movie theater. Check the foliage in the crane game for rare prizes like the egg.
- If you fish up treasure chests or dig up artifact spots in the Stardew Valley Mountains, you may end up netting a Dinosaur Egg.
- In 1.6, if you have a pet dog with max friendship, it’ll sometimes bring you a Dinosaur Egg when you go to pet it during the morning/day.
Where to Use Dinosaur Egg
Dinosaur Eggs in Stardew Valley 1.6

Donate to Museum
Contrary to its physical form, a Dinosaur Egg is categorized as an Artifact, not something related to food. This classification allows for its donation to a museum. You can verify if you have donated the egg by simply hovering over the item in your menu. If Gunter suggests he has more information about the egg only when it’s donated, then it hasn’t been donated yet. Similar to other donations, once the Dinosaur Egg is used in the museum, it cannot be retrieved again.
Hatch a Dinosaur
Previously mentioned, you have the ability to nurture and hatch Dinosaur Eggs to obtain baby Dinosaurs. While they won’t reach the immense size of the Pepper Rex creatures found in Skull Cavern or possess the ability to exhale fire, when they mature, they will begin laying their own Dinosaur Eggs.
Once you successfully obtain a Dinosaursaurus Egg, it’s wiser to put it inside either the Incubator (either Big Coop or Deluxe Coop) instead of choosing options like donating, selling, or giving it away.
Get Dinosaur Mayonnaise
Once you begin gathering Dinosaur Eggs, you can use a Mayo Maker to produce a unique spread known as Dinosaur Aioli. This product weighs approximately 800 grams, but remember to keep at least one jar of Dinosaur Aioli for the Junimo Package (Cinema Edition).
Give as a Gift
In Stardew Valley version 1.6, you can present Dinosaur Eggs as a special token of affection to characters such as Alex, the Dwarf, Penny, and Demetrius. Interestingly, they appreciate receiving these prehistoric gifts, while others in the game tend to dislike them.
Tailoring
At Emily’s place or with the sewing machine she provides upon completion of “Rock Rejuvenation”, utilizing a Dinosaur Egg results in obtaining a Dinosaur Hat accessory. On the other hand, applying Dinosaur Mayonnaise will yield Dinosaur Pants as an alternative item.
Sell

To summarize, you can also sell Dinosaur Eggs. However, it’s worth noting that Dinosaur Mayonnaise typically sells better than an iridium-quality Dinosaur Egg. If you are an Artisan, you can sell the egg for 1120g instead. Generally, it would be more profitable to transform Dinosaur Eggs into Dinosaur Mayonnaise. The exception to this is if you’ve read the Treasure Appraisal Guide (version 1.6). In that case, any Dinosaur Egg rated silver star or higher should be sold directly instead of being made into mayonnaise.
Here’s a comparison of the prices:
