In games like “Civilization VII“, exploration holds significant value, but for some players, dispatching a scout, settler, or explorer into uncharted territories, only to discover that it’s empty, can be quite disheartening, causing them to ponder if there are any ways to reveal the map instantly using “Civ 7” shortcuts.
Fortunately, activating the debug menu in the game “Civilization VII” allows players to explore various options more easily. Regrettably, at present, there are only a few practical cheats available beyond exploration in the game “Civ 7”. However, these should still be beneficial for those aiming to uncover the entire map quickly and simplify their gaming experience.
How to Enable Civ 7 Console Commands
Players intending to utilize cheats for Civ 7 should initially activate the debug menu, a task that necessitates minor adjustments to one of the game files. Fortunately, this procedure is effortless and can be quickly reversed. As a precaution, it’s advisable to create a backup of the AppOptions.txt file before proceeding. After completing this step, you can activate Civ 7 console commands by following the instructions provided below.
- Navigate to Users > AppData > Local > Firaxis Games > Sid Meier’s Civilization VII on your computer.
- Open the file AppOptions.txt with a text editor like Notepad.
- Find EnableDebugPanels -1 and replace it with EnableDebugPanels 1.
- Save the file and then launch Civilization VII.
To ensure the Civilization VII debug menu functions properly, remember to delete the semicolon (;) when modifying the AppOptions.txt file, alongside changing -1 to a 1.
How to Use Cheats in Civ 7 Debug Menu

In Civ 7, once you’ve activated the debug menu (as detailed earlier), you can access the console by hitting the tilde key (~) on your keyboard. Unlike conventional debug menus where players need to input specific commands into the console, Civ 7 offers a user-friendly interface with buttons and checkboxes instead. Handy for players are four options, three of which are situated within the Map tab’s debug area.
- Force Age Transition (UI > Gameplay) – Allows players to instantly skip to the next age.
- Reveal All (Map > Debug) – Allows players to see the full map and everything on it.
- Explore All (Map > Debug) – Allows players to see the full map.
- Enable FOW (Map > Debug) – Removes or enables the Fog of War.
Players can reposition the Civ 7 debug menu using the Move button at the bottom of the console.
