Unlock the Hidden Chapter 12 Secret Key in DOOM The Dark Ages – Here’s How!

In the game DOOM The Dark Ages, Chapter 12 is among the select missions set in a multi-tiered structure. After you jump from the uppermost level, you need to battle your way up, then return to the starting point to open a door that grants access to the following level, accompanied by Serrat, the Doom Slayer’s loyal dragon.

On your adventure through DOOM: The Dark Ages, you’ll stumble upon two hidden doorways that aren’t immediately obvious like the Secret Keys in other levels. This guide will show you how to find and unlock the Secret Key in Chapter 12, as well as what rewards await you behind both secret doors. As a seasoned gamer, I’ve been down this path myself, and here’s how to navigate it.

DOOM The Dark Ages Chapter 12 Secret Key Location

In Chapter 12, the Secret Key is hidden roughly three-quarters into the level, right after you obtain the Yellow Key. Once you’ve jumped at the start of Chapter 12, continue moving through the level, using mission markers as your guide, until you ride an elevator up and pick up the Yellow Key.

Make your way to the room where the Yellow Key door is located, then proceed towards that door. For now, avoid falling down the nearby elevator shaft. On the other side of the potential drop, you’ll spot a Gold Chest in an alcove and a wall that can be climbed to reach it. Retrace your steps away from the edge of the elevator drop, then quickly run into it without jumping. This will cause you to collide with the bottom of the climbable area.

Ascend and seize the Gold Chest situated nearby, then rotate your character. Locate the fragile wall opposite the elevator shaft and dash through it using Shield Charge to unveil a hidden section. Traverse this shaft while vanquishing adversaries, until you reach a room harboring the Secret Key for Chapter 12 concealed behind a red shield.

In the spirit of every crimson obstacle within our beloved game, this emblem serves as a sign that we need to vanquish all surrounding adversaries first. After successfully completing this mini battlefield, grab the elusive Chapter 12 Secret Key, then venture outdoors to discover a Hidden Door nearby.

All Secret Doors In DOOM The Dark Ages Chapter 12

In Chapter 12, there are two hidden doors: one is located next to the Secret Key on the same level, and the other is situated at the base of the elevator shaft on the ground floor. Remember, you can’t return to the upper level if you fall down the shaft, so make sure to locate the first secret door before proceeding further in the level.

  • One secret door can be found in the room just outside the Chapter 12 Secret Key location. Exit the Secret Key room and look for the familiar purple sealed glow of a secret key door near the room where you found the Yellow Key.
    • Contains a Wraithstone, sealed behind a red barrier that will unlock after you defeat all nearby demons.
  • The second secret door is on the ground level, near the lever you pulled that triggered a Pinky Rider cutscene behind the broken wall. Drop down the elevator shaft, pick up the Auto Turrent Shield Rune, then loop back to this you visited earlier.
    • Contains the Kreed Makyr collectible toy.
