In The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, side missions can sometimes be linked together, and finishing one mission is contingent upon completing another first. For instance, the Sins of the Father quest, which offers substantial benefits but isn’t immediately accessible, falls into this category.

Prior to gaining access to “Sins of the Father”, you’ll need to accomplish two additional missions first. As for the activation process of “Sins of the Father”, some players may overlook the intricate connections between these quests.

Separated At Birth Quest Walkthrough

Here’s your initial step in the ‘Sins of the Father’ quest: Make your way into the city of Chorrol through the Southern Gate. Upon entrance, you’ll notice a spacious square with a towering statue. Turn right from there and look for the first building on your right side – it’s called The Grey Mare Inn.

Inside the tavern, tucked away in a secluded corner, you’ll find Reynald Jemane, easily identifiable by his vibrant green attire. Approach him to initiate a new adventure.

Head towards the eastern part of the map now, making your way to the peaceful city of Cheydinhal. Approach through the Western Gate for a quiet entry. It’s advisable to arrive when it’s dark, as the city is most tranquil during the nighttime hours.

As you pass through the city gates, you’ll spot the Newlands Inn on your left. Head inside, take the stairs up, and there you’ll find a man snoozing on a bed adorned in green attire. Engage him in conversation and share the news about Reynald with him.

Return to The Grey Mare Inn in Chorrol once more, and this time, patiently wait until the two brothers exchange their pleasantries. After they’re done, engage in conversation with Guilbert to initiate the upcoming quest, “Legacy Lost.

Legacy Lost Quest Walkthrough

Following a conversation with Guilbert regarding Weatherleah and ‘The Legacy Lost’ mission, you’ll be ready to embark. Agree to assist them in vanquishing ogres, then make your way to the location indicated on the provided map. Note that this destination won’t show up on your own map until you discover it.

Upon arriving at Weatherleah, you’ll find three Ogres circling a home. Eliminate them all, then feel free to enter the house if it appeals to you. Later, make your way back to the Grey Mare Inn in Chorrol and brief Guilbert on the situation. If you’ve already dealt with the ogres, he may ask for your assistance in escorting him and his brother to the house; otherwise, he might task you with finishing off the remaining ogres.

After escorting the brothers to the house, the quest will come to an end.

Sins Of The Father Walkthrough

Following my adventure in Legacy Lost, I recommend returning to the charming town of Chorrol and securing a cozy room at The Grey Mare Inn for an extended rest. Ideally, you should aim for a two-day break post-Legacy Lost to unlock the quest Sins of the Father. If you’re eager to stay active during this period, feel free to explore other captivating quests that the game has in store!

In two days’ time, wait till early morning, around 9 in the morning. Make your way towards the square that holds the colossal statue situated by the Southern Gate of Chorrol. On the western part of the square, you’ll find a structure known as Oak and Crosier.

A character named Fathis Ules will exit that structure shortly and initiate a dialogue with you. Therefore, be patient and let him emerge first. During the conversation, Fathis will mention the Jemane family and claim their father has taken something from him. Offer your assistance to Fathis, and he’ll mark a destination on your map, which is located south of Chorrol.

Make your way to the specified area, get ready for combat against multiple ogres. Locate the dungeon using the provided marker as a guide. Utilize the pictures given to navigate through to the last room, where the final ogre resides. Defeat the adversary and retrieve the Honorblade of Chorrol from its remains. Subsequently, retrace your steps back to Chorrol.

How To Get The Escutcheon Of Chorrol Shield

After retrieving the sword, you’ll find yourself faced with two distinct decisions to complete your journey. Upon entering Chorrol, you’ll notice there are two separate quest indicators available for you.

The initial option is to hand over the sword to Fathis, who will then compensate you with 1,500 coins as your quest prize. However, this decision prevents you from obtaining an additional reward available from the Jemane brothers.

An alternative route would be to return the sword to Chorrol Castle. Initially, the sword wasn’t Fathis’ property, and he asked Albert Jemane to steal it for him. If your intention is to return the sword to its rightful owner, then you should hand it over to the castle.

Step into the castle and locate the gentleman called Wavrick. Give him the sword and in return, he’ll bestow upon you the Escutcheon of Chorrol shield.

Great news! The value of this shield exceeds 4,000 coins. That means, if you don’t fancy the shield, you could make more coins by selling it instead of gifting the sword to Fathis.

In the closing stages of the adventure, you’ll encounter the Jemane brothers and need to inform them about their father’s misdeeds. If Reynald shows his hot-headed nature by dismissing your claims, it’s Guilbert who will take your words seriously, given that the Honorblade has been delivered to Chorrol Castle. This sincere act of yours will be reciprocated with a reward of 4x Grand Soul Gems, marking the completion of this mission.
