Unlock the Power of Friendly Greetings in Civ 7: When to Use Them for Maximum Impact

In the game Civilization 7, you initially start by building your own Settlements. However, as each game progresses, you’ll encounter Leaders who are growing their Civilizations across the map. It might seem tempting to disregard them or underestimate the importance of a Friendly Greeting, but the relationships with these Leaders will have far-reaching consequences throughout your entire Civ 7 campaign.

Before dismissing the idea of expending valuable Influence on it, consider that there’s more to a Friendly Greeting than merely showing capital letters. This tutorial delves into the advantages of employing a Friendly Greeting and offers guidance on when it’s an appropriate choice in Civilization 7.

Don’t write off spending Influence on it because a Friendly Greeting seems like just capitalized text. Here, we explore the benefits of using a Friendly Greeting and help you decide when to use it effectively in Civilization 7.

When to Use a Friendly Greeting in Civilization 7

Upon encountering any Leader in Civilization 7, you’ll find yourself facing a choice among three responses: A Friendly Gesture, A Neutral Response, or An Unfriendly Action. Each option has its merits depending on the situation at hand, and an essential factor to weigh is the amount of Influence that each action requires.

The likelihood of discovering either civilization’s capital largely depends on the location where you initially encounter a unit from the other civilization and its distance from each capital. While uncovering a rival’s capital can be beneficial, it should not be the primary determinant in your strategy.

As a gamer, I find myself often pondering over the cost of different greetings in our game – 20 Influence for Friendly and Hostile ones, but none for the Neutral one. If I’m watching my Influence points or saving them up for something else, choosing the Neutral Greeting is typically the wise move.

In instances where the proximity of that Leader places some of your communities nearby, straining or damaging the relationship could result in heightened animosity and potentially escalate into conflict.

If your city hasn’t been fortified for self-defense, opting for a Peaceful Salutation would be more advantageous as it helps strengthen the bond and decreases the likelihood of that Leader turning hostile.

In competitive games, especially when following the Military Legacy Path at any age, it often proves beneficial to opt for a hostile greeting instead.

In the game of Civilization 7, both Emperor Napoleon and Prussia may benefit from unfavorable interactions with other leaders. When choosing a greeting, an Hostile Greeting works best for these characters, but a Friendly Greeting could be used if they are opponents to prevent them from receiving additional benefits. With this knowledge, you can now decide more wisely on whether a Friendly Greeting is appropriate in the game of Civilization 7.
