In the thrilling world of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, I can’t help but find myself constantly going after the officers in battles. These formidable characters have larger health reserves compared to ordinary units, and they also possess the abilities to guard and fortify themselves, making them significantly tougher opponents to defeat.
Attacks of significant force can potentially knock out an officer in a single strike, or inflict massive damage. In order to launch such an assault on an officer, you must initially breach their defense, symbolized by the yellow shields above their health meter. Here are some tips for doing so.
How To Break An Officer’s Guard In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The method to activate an Assault is by completely draining the Fortification’s protective shields above an enemy’s head. Regular attacks may not necessarily harm these shields, particularly when the enemy is on defense. During defense, they can still sustain damage, but their fortification shields remain intact and unbroken. To disrupt an Officer’s defense and weaken their fortification, you have several strategies available:
- Parrying their attacks
- Attacking them while they attack
- Use Combat Arts
- Use Musou Attacks
Landing Parries
Save Musou attacks for formidable opponents, as they are your most potent move and should be used strategically like a secret weapon. Parrying is an effective method to disrupt their defense, since landing a parry allows you to counter with a swift strike that pushes them back, halts their attack, and weakens their initial line of defense. You can perform a parry by timing your block just before the enemy’s basic attack connects, provided they aren’t glowing orange or red, indicating a special move is coming.
If you breach the defense wall, further assaults will keep weakening it.
Combat Arts & Perfect Dodging
In simpler terms, Combat Arts are strong moves that require courage, and they always shatter an enemy’s defense. Starting a fight with a Combat Art initially breaches their defense, making it easier for your subsequent regular attacks to weaken their defenses further. Dodging at the right moment might not break the enemy’s defense, but it restores your courage, allowing you to use your Combat Arts more frequently.
Additionally, there are fighting styles that allow you to break up harmful assaults, which can be identified when an opponent starts glowing orange. Successfully executing these interrupting techniques will significantly weaken the enemy’s defenses and simultaneously prevent a strong attack from reaching you.
How To Assault Enemies In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
As a fan, I’d put it like this: “When an Officer’s defenses run out, they’ll temporarily collapse and stand still for a short while. During this time, you can choose to strike them or move closer and execute an Assault. To perform an Assault, simply press the same key as your Strong Attack.
- Triangle on PlayStation
- Y on Xbox
- Right Click on PC
Based on the officer’s remaining vitality, the Assault can either instantly eliminate them or provide multiple opportunities to press the button for sustained powerful attacks. The attack radius of an assault is expansive, causing significant harm to enemies in close proximity. Attacking an officer surrounded by a fully fortified companion offers a strategic advantage, as it allows you to weaken both their defenses simultaneously.
