In the game Final Fantasy 15, each character possesses a distinct ability that progresses as you play, unlike the job system found in other Final Fantasy titles. While certain skills develop on their own, Noctis’ fishing skill demands focused effort since it’s possible to finish the game without ever using this skill.
As an ardent enthusiast, I’d like to share some insights on fishing – a fantastic pastime that not only offers a chance to unwind but also provides essential ingredients for delectable dishes that Ignis can magically transform into party-boosting meals. Here’s a beginner’s guide to this rewarding skill:
1. First, equip yourself with a fishing rod, which you can purchase from any vendor specializing in fishing equipment.
2. Find a suitable body of water – lakes, rivers, and even the ocean are all fair game. Keep an eye out for bubbling or rippling areas, as these often indicate fish activity.
3. Approach the water’s edge, ensuring you’re standing at least three feet away from it.
4. With your fishing rod in hand, press the appropriate button to cast your line into the water.
5. Wait for a fish to bite! When one does, your character will automatically reel it in. If you’re having trouble catching fish, consider using bait or lures to increase your chances.
6. Once caught, you can cook the fish yourself or give it to Ignis to prepare a dish that grants temporary stat boosts for the party. Happy fishing!
Preparing To Fish In Final Fantasy 15
While angling, you have four selections to pick from within the Tackle settings, each influencing your success. These choices can be adjusted as per your preference or strategy.
Material | Effects |
---|---|
Line | The durability of how much pull your line can take before snapping and losing a fish. |
Lure | While most fish will bite just about any lure, some lures make catching specific kinds of fish much easier. |
Rod | Determines your “defense”, which protects your line from taking damage when a fish is pulling against it. |
Reel | Determines your “attack”, which is how easily a fish is reeled in once on the line. |
You’ll find fishing stores, easily identified by their common store icon on the map, situated close to many fishing locations around the globe. These stores carry new parts and supplies for your fishing needs.
How To Fish In Final Fantasy 15
Fishing locations can be identified by the fish and hook symbol visible around water bodies. To engage in fishing, ensure you have the necessary items, including one of each type, then interact with the fishing spot to start casting your line. A cursor within the water will show where you’re casting, while the mini-map at the top right corner helps you locate fish in the current fishing area. The minimap has four different icons indicating fish positions.
- Small blue dot – Location of a fish
- Large blue dot – Location of an uncommon fish
- Small yellow dot – Location of an edible fish
- Large yellow dot – Location of an uncommon edible fish.
Sleeping and coming back another day will respawn more fish.
Fighting A Fish
Move your cursor over the fish symbol to see it change into a yellow pointer, signaling an ideal spot for fishing. If you drop the line close enough to a fish, a red bar will show up at the screen’s top edge, indicating its interest in the lure. Rapidly click the reel-in button several times to give your bait a lifelike appearance, and watch as the red bar gradually fills. Once it’s completely full, you’ll be prompted to set the hook by nudging the left joystick, at which point you can start pulling the fish in.
As a dedicated angler, I’ll guide you on how to control our virtual fishing rod. To pull against the catch, simply move the left joystick in the direction shown on the screen, simultaneously winding the reel. Remember, if you happen to tilt the joystick incorrectly, your line may sustain damage and eventually snap once its resilience runs out. But fear not! Once you’ve fully reeled in the fish, a delightful moment awaits as you hoist it up, revealing its stats and potential treasures.
The experience points (XP) that Noctis gets for his fishing ability increases based on the scarcity or rarity of the fish he catches.
