Summary
- Novice Alchemist can make basic useful potions like Restore Health, Agility, and Magicka in Oblivion Remastered.
- Match ingredients to create potions; herbs, plants, and even basic supplies like fruits can be used.
- Different potions cater to specific builds like Mage, Melee, and physical DPS in Oblivion Remastered.
In most role-playing games, there’s an aspect known as grinding, and almost every character starts off at the lowest level, zero. However, even though a Novice Alchemist might be limited in what they can produce, there are several potions that new players can concoct which prove quite beneficial.
In the game’s early stages, the items gathered by characters are primarily plants, mushrooms, and edibles, sourced from nature, taken from adversaries, or bought from tavern keepers. As a beginner Alchemist, you will only observe one effect of each ingredient in your Stockpile. The secret to creating beneficial potions lies in pairing these effects together and blending them into a concoction.
If a character crafts a potion at this stage, there may be the term “for self” accompanying its name. However, this notation does not alter the potion’s effects on the user.
7. Restore Health
The Most Important Elixir Of All

- Recipe: Cairn Bolete Cap + Boar Meat
Players will likely encounter two primary ingredients when concocting a fundamental Restorative Potion for health, although they can combine several options. However, items like Daedra Hearts and Fly Amanitas, which also aid in healing, have secondary effects that a Novice may not be able to utilize yet as they are more advanced components.
Instead of limiting your Mortar and Pestle usage to herbs, plants, or similar substances, remember that they can also be used with everyday items like bread and apples for an alchemical blend. This unique concoction frequently produces a beginner’s version of a Health Restoration potion.
6. Restore Agility
An Important Skill For Every Build

- Recipe: Foxglove Nectar + Fly Amanita Cap + Summer Bolete Cap
In the game “Oblivion: Remastered”, Agility serves as a versatile skill that allows characters to effectively use ranged weapons, pick locks, and move stealthily undetected. This skill is integral to other key abilities such as Marksman, Security, and Sneak.
In games with a Rogue class, it’s obvious that characters built around this role require more Agility than others. Therefore, creating a few of these items catering to an Agility-focused character can be beneficial. However, every explorer encounters situations where they need to pick locks and draw bows, so this potion provides a useful enhancement for anyone, even at the beginner level.
5. Restore Magicka
Mage Builds Beware

- Recipe: Flax Seeds + Blue Steel Entoloma Cap
In central Tamriel, vibrant wildflowers adorning hills and roadways serve as an unassuming source for Flax Seeds. It’s quite possible to overlook them due to their simplicity. Conversely, the Blue Entoloma mushroom stands out with its wavy, blue cap and can be effortlessly spotted, particularly on the expansive plains south of the Imperial City.
An initial Mage character setup could prove challenging due to limited spells and swift Magicka depletion, thus crafting some of these magical potions is crucial for any adventurer relying heavily on magic as their primary tool. Even physical damage-per-second (DPS) builds would benefit from having a few of these potions handy in case of emergencies.
4. Restore Strength
For Melee Builds, Like Fighters And Knights

- Recipe: Monkshood Root Pulp + Dryad Saddle Polypore Cap + Peony Seeds
In the style of many other RPG games, such as Oblivion: Remastered, a player’s strength influences their ability to inflict damage with melee weapons. The stronger the character becomes, the greater their destructive potential; however, this increased power also means they can carry heavier loads and will experience higher levels of fatigue.
The components of this concoction appear to prefer shaded areas and lower ground, making them effortlessly discovered by novice adventurers traversing the hills and forests. Monkshood is a tall, slender bloom with multiple blossoms. Peony is widespread across Tamriel, while Dryad Saddle Polypore Cap is a shelf mushroom that sprouts from decaying wood and ancient trees.
3. Resist Poison
A Defensive Potion

- Recipe: Motherwort + Foxglove
Among the limited defensive potions a Novice can concoct, Antidote to Poison stands out as particularly useful due to its prevalence among lower-level adversaries such as goblins and bandits who may be armed with poisoned arrows. In addition to combat, players should be aware that certain edibles in the game world can also cause poisoning.
Poison Resistance reduces the severity and slows down the harmful effects of poison. While it’s not as strong as an actual Cure for Poison, that particular potion is out of reach for Novice Alchemists as they cannot craft it themselves. However, Cure Poison elixirs can be found on slain enemies, discovered in chests, or even bought from vendors. Until you have access to the stronger cure, brewing Resist Poison concoctions would be beneficial.
2. Restore Endurance
An Important Fighting Skill

- Recipe: Tiger Lily Nectar + Crab Meat
Investigate the coastal regions of Tamriel to discover specific flora and fauna with unique restorative properties. Mudcrabs, large, hostile creatures dwelling on the muddy seashores, will have to be defeated regardless, but their carcasses yield Crab Meat which can be gathered.
Mix these two components to concoct the Novice Restore Endurance Potion. Endurance plays a crucial role in physical DPS classes as it regulates skills such as Armoring, Blocking, and Heavy Armor wearing. Additionally, it influences a character’s Health, Fatigue, and the health points they earn when advancing levels.
1. Restore Intelligence
Essential For Magicka Users And Alchemists

- Recipe: Alkanet Flower + Clouded Funnel Cap
A character’s proficiency in using Conjuration, Mysticism, and Alchemy skills is influenced by their Intelligence. This stat is crucial for Mages, as it not only affects their magical abilities but also determines the player’s level in Alchemy. So, if you enjoy brewing potions or concocting poisons, paying attention to your Intelligence could be beneficial.
Alkanet Flower, though slender and tall, can be overlooked, yet it flourishes in numerous locations and boasts vibrant blue blooms that make it noticeable. Conversely, Clouded Funnel Cap is somewhat hard to find, preferring dim areas near rocks, and it sports a wavy, slightly gray-blue cap.
