If you’re a player who enjoys operating covertly in darkness and camouflage, the Thieves Guild would be an ideal guild for you to become a part of. Comprising of cunning pickpockets and burglars, this guild honors their rules and shares their ill-gotten gains, making the acquisition of stolen items and heists more enjoyable than ever in the game Oblivion.
In the game ‘Oblivion’, here’s a simple guide on how players can become part of the Thieves Guild:
1. First, travel to Riften, the city where the guild is based.
2. Look for a building known as the Ragged Flagon. Inside, you’ll find a man named Brynjolf who will introduce you to the Thieves Guild.
3. Agree to help Brynjolf with a robbery at Bandit’s Purse, located northwest of Riften.
4. Successfully complete the heist and return to Brynjolf in the Ragged Flagon.
5. From this point on, you can participate in various jobs for the Thieves Guild, gradually revealing the mystery of the Gray Fox and earning the right to wear the guild’s armor.
How to Join the Thieves Guild in Oblivion Remastered
To become part of the Thieves Guild, the simplest approach involves scrutinizing the posters of the Gray Fox that are scattered around the Imperial City. Once you engage with one of these posters, you can converse with a guard and inquire about the Gray Fox. Keep talking to guards until you overhear something like “The beggars adore him, particularly in the Waterfront.“. Now, navigate your way to the Waterfront District and interact with Puny Ancus, a beggar who will share information on the Gray Fox if your rapport with him is friendly enough.
If the beggar, who has more than 80 distinct characteristics, admits to knowing the Gray Fox, players can opt for teaming up with him. This choice will lead them to the Garden of Dareloth at midnight. Upon reaching midnight and entering the Garden of Dareloth, wait for Armand Christophe, an NPC, to approach you. Engage in conversation with him about the Gray Fox. If the player’s relationship score is at least 60, they will be given the opportunity to join the Thieves Guild. However, if the score is lower, they may need to bribe Armand Christophe first.
After Armand Christophe issues his orders, you’ll get the “May the Best Thief Win” quest. It would be wise to save your progress now because this mission requires a speedy race to pilfer a diary from two other thieves. The quickest way to secure the diary first is by rushing to the eastern part of the Temple District within the Imperial City, where you’ll locate Amantius Allectus’ House. In there, you can discover the diary hidden inside a desk.
As I’ve snatched the diary, I’ll tread back into the Garden of Dareloth under the cover of midnight, ready to hand it over to Armand. This should wrap up my mission and seal my membership in the cunning Thieves Guild.
Should players not manage to find the diary initially, Methredhel will possess it. However, if they wish to retrieve it, they should navigate to her hideout in the Waterfront District and pick the lock on a chest there to recover the diary.
