In the plentiful arsenal of Oblivion Remastered, players have ample opportunity to create a variety of playstyles by crafting diverse builds. Accessories serve as an excellent method to amplify your character’s abilities, enhancing their combat effectiveness even further. One such accessory is the Spelldrinker Amulet, which converts incoming spells into Magicka energy, proving particularly valuable when battling mages. Here’s a guide on how players can acquire it once they have completed the Ulterior Motives quest.
How to Start the Ulterior Motives Quest in Oblivion Remastered
To initiate the Ulterior Motives mission in Oblivion Remastered, players first need to finish all Recommendation quests and the Mages’ Staff quest, then belong to the Mages guild. Subsequently, you should converse with Raminus at the Arcane University located within Imperial City. During this conversation, opt for the Advancement choice to advance your rank to Journeyman mage.
Next, the quest “Ulterior Motives” is set in motion for the players by Raminus, who asks them to find and retrieve a book belonging to the Count of Skingrad.
Recovering the Book from Janus Hassildor
Navigate to Skingrad Castle, enter the Country Hall, and have a chat with Mercator Hosidus within. He’ll inform you about Count Telvanni’s current preoccupation and suggest you come back tomorrow. To save time, stay put in the castle using Oblivion’s wait function and let 24 hours pass before returning.
24 hours from now, connect with Mercator once more, and he will provide an update that the Count has arranged a meeting outside the Haunted Mine at 2 AM. Despite its ominous tone, just follow the guidance provided and reach the specified spot at the appointed hour. After a short while, you’ll notice Mercator approaching you, revealing that the entire arrangement was part of a scheme to eliminate you.
In this scenario, you’ll find yourself engaged in a simultaneous battle against Mercator and other necromancers. Fortunately, Janus Hassildor will leap into the fray to assist you. After defeating all adversaries, take a moment to converse with Janus about the true motive behind the University dispatching you.
Completing Ulterior Motives Quest & Getting the Spelldrinker Amulet
1. Once you’ve gone through all of Janus’ conversations, head back to Raminus Polus and fill him in on what’s happened.
2. Completing the Ulterior Motives quest will earn you the title of an Envoker mage, as well as receiving the Spelldrinker Amulet as a reward in Oblivion Remastered.
