How to Start the Ulterior Motives Quest in Oblivion Remastered
To initiate the Ulterior Motives mission in Oblivion Remastered, players first need to finish all Recommendation quests and the Mages’ Staff quest, then belong to the Mages guild. Subsequently, you should converse with Raminus at the Arcane University located within Imperial City. During this conversation, opt for the Advancement choice to advance your rank to Journeyman mage.

Recovering the Book from Janus Hassildor

24 hours from now, connect with Mercator once more, and he will provide an update that the Count has arranged a meeting outside the Haunted Mine at 2 AM. In this scenario, you’ll find yourself engaged in a simultaneous battle against Mercator and other necromancers. Fortunately, Janus Hassildor will leap into the fray to assist you. After defeating all adversaries, take a moment to converse with Janus about the true motive behind the University dispatching you.
Completing Ulterior Motives Quest & Getting the Spelldrinker Amulet
1. Once you’ve gone through all of Janus’ conversations, head back to Raminus Polus and fill him in on what’s happened.
2. Completing the Ulterior Motives quest will earn you the title of an Envoker mage, as well as receiving the Spelldrinker Amulet as a reward in Oblivion Remastered.
