As you journey through the underbelly of Blue Prince, you’ll uncover a wealth of fresh enigmas right before wrapping up your initial playthrough of the game. Buried beneath the house, the labyrinthine tunnels hide countless rooms, chambers, sealed chests, and other secrets waiting to be explored.
In the game ‘Blue Prince’, the Sanctum is a secluded space found at the end of a long corridor. Inside, there’s a lever and eight enigmatic doors, which are locked shut. Unlike ordinary locks, these doors can only be unlocked using eight distinctive Sanctum keys. To access each room and conquer the puzzles within, you must first locate these special keys. This guide aims to provide you with instructions on how to discover all eight Sanctum keys in ‘Blue Prince’.
All Sanctum Key Locations
In all, there are eight unique keys hidden in various spots. Each key is identical and capable of opening any one of the Sanctum doors, but only one door per key. To help you find them, there’s a poem in Room 46 that offers clues about their locations.
“The first key found here on the furthest rank,
The second locked tight in the vault of a bank,
The third is high up, among all the clocks,
And the fourth down below, beneath all docks.
The fifth key is held by a king on his throne,
The sixth by the station, left by one of your own,
The seventh is major if you draft quite late,
And the last key is waiting behind the door of eight.”
Room 46

To win the game “Blue Prince,” your initial goal is to gain access to Room 46. Entering this room for the first time triggers a cutscene and ends the day, but you can explore it further if you return on another day. Inside, you’ll find a crown, lore, clues, and another puzzle, as well as a Sanctum Key. This key is hinted at by the phrase “The first key found here on the furthest rank,” since Room 46 is the only room that belongs to the highest, or tenth, rank in the house.
The Vault

The upcoming hint is “Box 370, securely locked within a bank’s vault.” In the game ‘Blue Prince’, you have the option to create various floor plans, one of which includes a Vault. Inside this vault, you’ll find several lock boxes and the keys for these are distributed as special items during your exploration of the house. One such lock box that can be unlocked is box number 370. Within it lies a Sanctum Key.
Clock Tower
In the game Blue Prince, The Clock Tower is not accessible at the beginning, but you’ll eventually require it to retrieve the third key which is located up among all the clocks. To access the Clock Tower, you should initially select a Drafting Studio. If fortune favors you, the Clock Tower might be one of the options available for inclusion in your drafting collection. Once you have the Clock Tower, it’s important to construct it as early in the game day as possible because the puzzle it contains can only be solved by making use of time.

Peering intently at the screenshot’s Clock Tower card, I noticed that the clock hands were pointed squarely at 1:30. This significant time is mirrored not only on the floor beneath the tower but also on the shattered clock face atop it. Should you construct a replica of this Clock Tower and find yourself precisely at its summit at exactly 1:30, a hidden chamber will mysteriously swing open. Upon entering this room, align the clocks in the following sequence from left to right to secure the Sanctum Key: [times listed here].
- 5:00
- 5:08
- 5:57
- 6:00
- 7:00
- 8:00
- 8:05
- 9:00
Reservoir Chest Puzzle
To completely empty the Reservoir in Blue Prince, you’ll encounter a puzzle that requires solution. To access this puzzle, you must first construct the Pump Room, which becomes available once you’ve built a Pool. Next, connect the Pump Room to a power source such as the Electric Eel Aquarium or the Boiler Room. With power flowing into the Pump Room, you can then use the Reserve tank within it to drain all the water from the Reservoir.

After the water has receded, feel free to exit the Foundation Elevator on the north side of the Reservoir, follow the stairs down, and examine all the chests scattered around. In total, there are 23 chests, each with distinct colors, symbols, and cards that will provide hints about which of these 23 boxes holds the Sanctum Key.
If you’d rather not spend time contemplating multiple options and pressing numerous keys, you can find the solution right here: The key is found inside a black box adorned with a moon symbol, marked with an “I” on the map provided. This will lead you to another key, positioned underneath all the docks.
Throne Room
1. “The fifth item is being guarded by a ruler on his seat,” implies that you should incorporate the Throne Room into your plan.
2. To gain access to it, you must amass all Microchips in the game titled “Blue Prince” and deposit them onto the pedestal located within the Blackbridge Grotto. Follow these instructions for execution:
a) Gather the Microchips in the “Blue Prince” game.
b) Travel to the Blackbridge Grotto.
c) Place the collected Microchips on the pedestal therein.
d) Proceed to the Throne Room.

- Unlock the west gate by going through the Garage Door. Power it using the Utility Box breaker.
- Get power to the Laboratory floorplan with the Boiler Room or other Power Source.
- Solve the Laboratory lever puzzle in Blue Prince.
- This will unlock the Blackbridge Grotto.
- The first of three microchips is inside the Grotto itself, already in the pedestal.
- The second microchip is located inside a vase in the entryway of the house; you can break them open with a Hammer.
- The third microchip is buried right next to the little bridge on the west side of the house. You’ll need a Shovel to get it.
- Place all three microchips in the Grotto’s pedestal. A secret door will open.
- Go inside to find the new floorplan.
- Draft the Throne Room during any day. It will cost five Blue Prince gems.
- Look for the Sanctum Key on one of the benches inside the Throne Room.
Safehouse
The hint for the next key is “Sixth item near the station, go left from one of your own places.” This refers to your mother’s Hideout, situated beside the Reservoir. To access it, adjust the water level to six units and then sail a boat there. The boat will initially be on the southern side of the Reservoir, so you must enter from that side through either the circular candle room or by igniting all Blue Flames in Blue Prince and taking the elevator down.

Piano Room
For the seventh key, the hint is “it’s major if you join the game late.” However, this doesn’t become clear unless you carefully examine the card that illustrates the Music Room’s layout during drafting. This card reveals that it contains both a “Major” and “Minor” key. This isn’t just a clever Music Room reference; it signifies that you can create various unique Major Keys in this location, such as car keys, silver keys, Secret Garden keys, etc. Additionally, you will be able to draft a Sanctum Key from here once you’ve reached Room 46 and found another Sanctum Key hidden there as well.
Mechanarium
As a dedicated explorer, I must clarify that the final clue isn’t about the eighth door within the Sanctum itself. Instead, it’s all about the Mechanic rooms, or those marked with a cog symbol. Once you’ve filled every door in the Mechanarium with these special rooms, you’ll find the elusive Sanctum Key behind the eighth door within one of those Mechanic rooms.

If you find yourself struggling with the current room layout, consider obtaining a Wrench. This tool alters the rarity of the mechanical rooms you design when you have it. It simplifies the process of creating these rooms for you. Additionally, crafting a Workshop in Blue Prince by combining a Compass and a Battery is beneficial. The Workshop increases the frequency of mechanical rooms appearing during your design phase.
