In Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, players are urged to scrutinize the items scattered across the battlefield meticulously as they formulate their strategy. Although the statistical boosts provided by an item can be immediately noticed, one needs to look more closely to ascertain how Protection abilities will affect the course of the battle.
In Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, certain items enjoy a mutual shielding effect when they’re adjacent or connected by glowing lines that signify protection. This can either make an enemy more formidable or render them invincible, but when used strategically by your units, it can significantly boost their strength. Mastering how to apply and counter Protection Effects is crucial for your gameplay progression as the game unfolds.
How Protection Effects Work
In the game Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, you’ll notice a protective feature early on, signaled by radiant lines connecting multiple items or characters on the map. By hovering over one of these items and expanding the information panel (press L1 on PS5), you can understand how this protection works. Items linked by the radiant line all share the same protection, with the effect persisting as long as at least two of them stay on the map.
Units that are confined to an object with a shielding property will acquire that protective benefit. However, if they loot the item, it disappears when they depart from the map, possibly canceling the protection effect. Keep in mind that some protection effects can harm enemies or benefit you, so remember to inspect any protections present on the map before making your move.
How to Remove Protection Effects
The protective influence ceases when no other items/characters with that influence remain on the map.
If there’s only one object or character left on the map with that specific protective effect, the protection will no longer be in effect.
Attempt to remove the protection effect directly through a specific action or ability that targets the object.
Focus on eliminating other objects/characters with the protective effect, reducing their numbers until only the one remaining object can be dealt with more easily.
If possible, create or summon additional objects/characters to outnumber and overpower the protected object, effectively removing it from the map and thus ending its protective influence.
In the majority of instances, the most convenient solution would be to grab the items and toss them from the map, as throwing them off-bounds (O.B.) will eliminate them regardless of whether they can be damaged. Alternatively, you could opt for the Merchant’s Stock command to expel it from the map and add it to your shop (however, protective effects won’t transfer out of the map if you take the item off with you). Lastly, you could have a unit with a high plunder probability swipe the object, and then let that unit exit the map, carrying the item away.
