Unlocking the Secrets of Solo Leveling’s Most Powerful Artifacts!

Summary

  • Artifacts are powerful items in Solo Leveling that cannot be crafted by even the most experienced artisans.
  • Some of Sung Jinwoo’s artifacts, like Kasaka’s Venom Fang and the Sphere of Avarice, have unique abilities that aid in battle.
  • The Orb of Avarice in the anime is an A-Rank item that doubles magic damage and is one of the most potent Artifacts seen so far.

In the third installment of “Solo Leveling Season 2: Rising from Shadows“, character Hwang Dongsoo experiences a crushing loss at the hands of Sung Jinwoo’s father, Sung Il Hwan, who had been imprisoned within a Gate for a decade prior to emerging through an A-Rank Gate that mysteriously appeared in the U.S. Following this defeat, Hwang Dongsoo is filled with fury and swears revenge against Il Hwan, intending to confront him again – this time armed with appropriate gear known as “Artifacts”. These items are said to be exceptionally scarce, although they may potentially be acquired through auction.

In simpler terms, what are Artifacts, and could utilizing them provide Hwang Dongsoo with a strategic advantage over an adversary who previously defeated him swiftly?

I know where he’s headed. Now I just need gear. An Artifact that’ll let me crush that bastard!

– Hwang Dongsoo

Explaining Artifacts

Much Like Armour and Weaponry in An RPG

In the fourth episode of “Solo Leveling Season 2 -Emerging from Shadows-“, Hwang Dongsoo is recuperating from severe wounds sustained during his battle against Sung Il Hwan. Upon a visit from the Deputy Chief of the U.S. Hunter Association in the hospital, who inquires about his opinion on Sung Il Hwan, Dongsoo hints that what he faced wasn’t a human adversary. Alone once more, Dongsoo recalls the ominous warning given by Il Hwan following their fight and becomes enraged, vowing to find the appropriate equipment to annihilate Sung Il Hwan. Artifacts are described as superior-grade gear that even skilled artisans may struggle to create. In many role-playing games (RPGs), these items are rare and possess unique abilities, sometimes forming part of a collection.

These artifacts can be purchased in online auctions, but they come with a hefty price tag. An elite Hunter like Hwang Dongsoo wouldn’t bat an eye buying such valuable items. For instance, Jinwoo’s Kasaka’s Venom Fang and the Sphere of Avarice, acquired after defeating Metis, the Guide of Souls at the Demon Castle, are examples of artifacts. It’s crucial for a Hunter to carefully select their gear before embarking on perilous Raids, as the diverse bonuses and penalties provided by various artifact types can mean the difference between survival and death. The Kasaka’s Venom Fang is particularly harmful, inflicting a severe poison status that quickly erodes the target’s health, and it’s particularly effective against human opponents. While artifacts can take the form of weapons, armor, or even runestones imbued with rare abilities, they can also be potions such as the Elixir of Life, capable of curing all ailments, or the Cup of Reincarnation, an item created by the Absolute Being, capable of reversing the flow of time itself.

The Most Powerful Artifact Seen in The Anime So Far

The Orb of Avarice is a Damage Multiplier of Epic Proportions

In the anime “Solo Leveling”, the artifact that stands out as the most potent thus far is the Orb of Greed. Jinwoo acquired this after overcoming Metus, the Guide of Souls, during his second trip to the Demon Castle. This A-Rank item amplifies the user’s magical damage by a factor of two, making it exceptionally powerful considering that enhancements for magical abilities are already scarce, and most of them only boost abilities by 50% at best. Although the Orb of Greed is highly potent, Jinwoo doesn’t find much use for it himself but has pondered over giving it to the mages in his Shadow Army to significantly boost their magical damage output.

Ultimately, the Orb of Greed is passed on to Tusk, the Dark Spirit of Kargalgan – a powerful shaman who Jinwoo will cross paths with later in the anime. The Crimson Knight’s Helmet, won following his conquest of Igris the Bloodsoaked, is an elite-tier armor piece that significantly enhances Jinwoo’s Stamina and Strength, while also diminishing all incoming damage by 15%. Barca’s Blade exhibits immense power in terms of DPS, whereas the Demon Emperor’s Earring bestows him with a boost in both Strength and Vitality. Though these items have proven extremely beneficial to Sung Jinwoo up until now, they will seem insignificant compared to what awaits him from here on out.

Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow- is available on Crunchyroll.
