The moment Goku unveiled Ultra Instinct, it sent waves through the internet, and to make matters even more thrilling, he swiftly upgraded this ability. In the upcoming chapters of the Dragon Ball Super manga, Goku has mastered additional forms of Ultra Instinct, so let’s delve deeper into each one.

Before delving into the subject though, let me clarify something about Ultra Instinct: It’s a mix of progression and individuality. Some variations of Ultra Instinct are actually advanced versions of the one preceding it, while others stray from the usual path and are unique to certain individuals.

Ultra Instinct Sign

The Calm Before the Storm

Firstly recognized as either Ultra Instinct Sign or Ultra Instinct Omen, this form is accessed by those who are just starting to comprehend the idea and might of Ultra Instinct. In this state, individuals gain the fundamental skill of instinctively dodging or responding to oncoming attacks. However, the form remains incomplete because the user finds it challenging to launch attacks without conscious thought. Consequently, while Ultra Instinct Sign enhances the user’s defensive capabilities significantly, they are unable to fully exploit their power for offensive purposes.

It’s important to note that the Ultra Instinct Sign doesn’t just provide an increase in raw strength and power, it certainly does so. The stage following Ultra Instinct Sign is referred to as Perfect Ultra Instinct, which is attained by mastering Ultra Instinct even more proficiently. This is the form taken by Angels, and Gods of Destruction aspire to reach it; however, surprisingly, Goku, a regular mortal, was able to accomplish this. Unlike Sign, those using Perfected Ultra Instinct can now strike instinctually, making their actions smoother and more potent. The power increase from Perfected Ultra Instinct significantly surpasses that of Sign, allowing Goku to match Full Power Jiren’s pace. Distinguishing features of Perfected Ultra Instinct are similar to those of Sign, but Goku’s hair has turned completely silver and no longer has any loose strands.

In Dragon Ball Super episode 129 titled “A Transcendent Limit Break! Autonomous Ultra Instinct Mastered!”, Goku reaches Perfected Ultra Instinct. This comes after using the Ultra Instinct Sign for the third time, allowing him to grow accustomed to this form. As he does so, his power escalates significantly and his combat style shifts towards more aggressive maneuvers, suggesting a higher proficiency in Ultra Instinct. His aura intensifies progressively until his hair transforms completely silver, marking the next phase of Ultra Instinct mastery.

Perfected Ultra Instinct Giant Form

One could argue that this isn’t exactly a fresh manifestation or escalation of Ultra Instinct, but rather a move or technique executed using Mastered Ultra Instinct, yet it’s significant enough to note. Mastered Ultra Instinct Giant Form is when Goku, in his Mastered Ultra Instinct state, creates a colossal figure in his likeness that he can command to engage equally large adversaries. This figure is crafted from blue energy, and Goku’s actual body remains within the figure’s head region, equivalent to where the brain would be. Goku first utilized Mastered Ultra Instinct Giant Form in the Dragon Ball Super manga chapter 66, titled “Moro, the World Devourer”, to counteract the enormous Moro who had absorbed Earth.

Over time, Goku came to understand that Perfected Ultra Instinct wasn’t a good fit for him because it demanded utter tranquility and the absence of feelings to sustain. However, at heart, Goku is a Saiyan warrior who can’t help but love battles and feel deeply about protecting his loved ones. Instead of chasing after the perfected form of Ultra Instinct, Goku opted for the less demanding Ultra Instinct Sign. He then worked diligently to refine it, incorporating his personal fighting style within it. Eventually, this led him to develop True Ultra Instinct – a form that brings out the peak potential of his combat skills. First showcased in Dragon Ball Super manga chapter 85 titled “To Each His Own Answer,” during his battle with Gas, this is currently Goku’s most powerful form.

To activate the Perfected Ultra Instinct, my heart needs to be serene and peaceful. However, when I’m in this state, I can channel my feelings to my advantage.

Goku’s True Ultra Instinct shares a similarity with Ultra Instinct Sign due to its connection. Instead of Perfected Ultra Instinct, it bears a striking resemblance to Sign.
