Hero Games clearly understands what drives action RPGs. With their support of Black Myth: Wukong as it soared to 20 million sales, and observing Wuthering Waves captivate gamers, they’re now leveraging that knowledge into their own project. Duet Night Abyss will launch its initial closed beta test on February 20th (UTC+8), and it promises some truly remarkable concepts for players to explore.
Through its prosperous investments in Black Myth: Wukong and Wuthering Waves, the company has transformed itself from being an investor to a creator. In this upcoming project, Hero Games is set to unveil some exceptional elements, such as an atypical battle system, a non-random attribute upgrade scheme, and a dual-perspective storyline, all of which underscore their creative ingenuity.
Inside Duet Night Abyss
High-Freedom Combat
Ever since its worldwide launch in October 2023, DNA has been garnering attention due to its innovative strategy against freedom. Through the latest Special Program, DNA demonstrated just how far it pushes boundaries within this Combat Behavioral Test (CBT). Players can execute any action unrestricted by stamina limits, and combat abilities have no cooldown periods.
DNA’s fundamental design concept revolves around various arsenals for use in dynamic, three-dimensional battlefields. The game prioritizes substantial freedom and agility, whether in combat or exploration. Its robust attribute system with set attributes ensures steady advancement throughout the gameplay. This setup encompasses a dual narrative that unfolds from two unique viewpoints.
Characters are able to wield both a ranged and a melee weapon at the same time, offering multiple strategies for battle. Moreover, their selection of weapons is quite extensive.
As a seasoned movie critic, I find myself captivated by the intricate weaponry on display in this cinematic masterpiece. From rapid-fire dual pistols that spew bullets like a wild west gunfighter, to room-clearing shotguns that leave no enemy unscathed, the ranged options are nothing short of breathtaking.
The precision bow, with its stealthy and deadly precision, offers a refreshing contrast to the raw power of the assault rifles, capable of sustained damage in the heat of battle. And let’s not forget the space-controlling grenade launchers, which give our heroes the upper hand in any conflict, no matter how dire.
But fear not, for those who prefer close-quarters combat will find themselves equally impressed. Traditional swords, with their timeless elegance and versatility, are a staple of any warrior’s arsenal. For those seeking something unique, the whipswords offer an intriguing mid-range control option, allowing our heroes to keep their enemies at bay while maintaining their agility.
Tactical polearms provide a solid defense against overwhelming odds, while heavy-hitting greatswords deliver crushing blows that can turn the tide of any battle. And for those who prefer a more agile approach, the sleek and swift sabres are the perfect choice, allowing our heroes to dance gracefully amidst the chaos of combat.
Whether you’re a fan of ranged or melee combat, this film has something for everyone. So grab your popcorn, settle into your seat, and prepare to be dazzled by the breathtaking weaponry on display in this cinematic tour de force.
During our closed beta testing, it was demonstrated that the characters’ movement is incredibly versatile. They can seamlessly combine basic jumps into double jumps, navigate battles by dashing and dodging forwards, and employ wall jumps and unique helical leaps to engage in combat across all vertical planes.
Commissioned Dungeons subject various movement options to rigorous testing by flooding players with strategically designed adversaries intended to challenge their proficiency in navigating the game system. Instead of resembling a typical Action Role-Playing Game (ARPG), it appears more like a combat sandbox, empowering players to devise unique strategies for every confrontation.
Demon Wedge System & Weapon Forging

It’s equally enjoyable to notice that the adaptability is reflected in the way characters advance within the Demon Wedge mechanism. The enhancements in this system can be obtained from commission dungeons, available in two types – character and weapon upgrades. Unlike conventional RPG systems where stats are randomly determined, the Demon Wedges ensure guaranteed progression.
Characters with Demon Wedges have alterations in their combat traits and battle skills, whereas Weapon Demon Wedges enhance the harm players cause while ensuring a consistent restoration. Upon uncovering a type of Demon Wedge, it may be fitted to any character or weapon of the same kind.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m always thrilled to visit the Lunosmith workshop where I can design an array of equipment, from common to the illustrious five-star ranged weapon, Arclight Apocalypses. Here, I can create weapons of up to five-star rarity using battle-derived materials. The longer I wait for my masterpiece, the more powerful it becomes, as crafting times increase based on the weapon’s potential.
In simpler terms, ordinary weapons can be crafted quickly within a few minutes, whereas top-tier gear usually takes hours unless you choose to hasten the process with an additional speed-up feature. This crafting method coexists with the conventional gacha system, offering several avenues for acquiring premium equipment.
Dual Narrative And Character Roster

The beta lineup presents fifteen extraordinary Daimons, who belong to the oppressed Charon species. Each design narrates a tale using common features such as demon horns and visible mechanical vertebrae, while also incorporating individual natural motifs. What really grabbed my attention was the way the narrative unfolds through this intricate dual storytelling format.
In these two chapters, Noctoyager and Twilight, you’ll find a similar set of occurrences presented from distinct viewpoints.
Both the chapters, Noctoyager and Twilight, offer contrasting accounts of common events that unfold within them.
Or even more casually:
Noctoyager and Twilight chapters each provide a unique take on similar happenings.
It comes as no shock that DNA boasts top-notch quality in its production, featuring complete voiceovers in four distinct languages. Emma Ballantine serves as the English voice for the female Phoxhunter, while Joshua Wichard takes on the role of The Boy in the Dream.
In the Japanese version, veterans Akari Kitō and Natsuki Hanae take on their respective roles, backed by notable talents such as Yui Ishikawa (Berenica), Satomi Arai (Tabethe), Hosoya Yoshimasa (Yuming), Yoshino Nanjō (Fushu), Aki Toyosaki (Truffle and Filbert), Makoto Furukawa (Outsider), Satomi Satō (Psyche), Naganawa Maria (Fina), and Tachibana Kyo (Snow). The Korean and Chinese adaptations boast equally distinguished voice actors, with acclaimed talent ensuring a high standard of quality in each region.
Individuals eager to stay updated on the advancements of DNA can check out the newest information on its official site and various social platforms such as X (mention specific platform), YouTube, Facebook, Discord, and even engage in conversations within the vibrant community on Reddit.
