Epic Games’ Unreal Engine is a powerful 3D game engine behind many popular and visually stunning video games. The newest version, Unreal Engine 5, continues this tradition, allowing developers to create incredible digital experiences and push the boundaries of what’s possible in gaming.
It’s amazing that over 140 games have been created using this engine in just three years! While some are still being worked on, many are already released and are stunning visually. Unreal Engine 5 games generally look incredible, and here are some of the best ones we’ve seen so far.
Black Myth: Wukong
A Breathtaking Adventure Inspired By Classic Chinese Literature
Black Myth: Wukong is an exciting and difficult action RPG rooted in the classic Chinese story, *Journey to the West*. It quickly became popular with players and critics alike, thanks to its impressive graphics and engaging gameplay – especially its battles and challenging boss fights.
Everything in *Black Myth: Wukong* looks incredible. The character designs, from the main hero to the challenging enemies, are packed with detail, and the game’s environments are stunning. After about four years in development, the wait has clearly paid off.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2
A Cinematic Journey Through Senua’s Complex Psyche
In 2017, *Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice* gained attention for its intense psychological horror and simple, focused gameplay, all powered by the Unreal Engine 4. It was therefore no surprise that Ninja Theory used the updated Unreal Engine 5 to create its follow-up, *Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2*, which boasts even more impressive visuals.
Initially, *Hellblade 2* appears to be a typical action RPG set in a Norse world – everything from the landscapes to the characters and creatures looks incredibly lifelike, especially the main character, Senua. However, the game delves into intense psychological horror, exploring Senua’s mental state. This is masterfully done through unsettling and dreamlike visuals, making the game a truly captivating experience.
Silent Hill 2 Remake
Going Back To Silent Hill Has Never Been More Terrifying
Recreating *Silent Hill 2*-a game that impressed PlayStation 2 players back in 2001 with its cutting-edge graphics-was a major challenge. However, Bloober Team exceeded expectations, and their *Silent Hill 2* remake became a standout success in 2024.
As a huge fan of survival horror, I think presentation is absolutely key – it’s how developers really pull you into a scary world. If something *doesn’t* look right, it can totally ruin the experience. Luckily, Bloober Team nailed it with the *Silent Hill 2* remake. It’s genuinely depressing and terrifying from start to finish! The characters look incredibly realistic, the environments are packed with detail, and the cutscenes feel like you’re watching a movie. What’s really clever is how they use fog. The original game used it to hide limitations, but the remake uses it to make everything even creepier and more unsettling. It’s just brilliant.
Infinity Nikki
Dress-Up Games Also Deserve To Have Good Graphics
While Unreal Engine 5 is known for creating realistic and intense games, it’s surprisingly versatile and can also be used to build bright, cheerful, and relaxing experiences. There are several games like this made with Unreal Engine 5, and 2024’s *Infinity Nikki* is a standout example.
Infinity Nikki is a free game where you can explore a stunning open world, enjoy exciting adventures, and live a virtual life. It blends action, simulation, and a huge focus on fashion. The game really shines when it comes to customizing your character, Nikki. Every outfit, accessory, and hairstyle is incredibly detailed thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 5, letting you create exactly the look you want. Players will find a lot to love in the game’s extensive style options.
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered
A Modern Reinterpretation Of A Beloved Classic
I still remember being blown away by the world of *Oblivion* back in 2006 – it was so detailed and huge for its time! Then, five years later, *Skyrim* came along and just upped the ante with an even bigger and more beautiful world. But honestly, Bethesda really surprised us all recently when they just suddenly released *The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered* out of nowhere. It was a total shock!
Though called a remaster, this feels more like a complete rebuild, especially considering it was made using Unreal Engine 5. The world of Cyrodiil has never looked better – every environment is stunning. The characters have also been noticeably improved, losing the strange, unsettling look of the original game. Ultimately, the incredible graphics in *Oblivion Remastered* really enhance the experience, making it a fantastic way to revisit this classic.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
The Latest Gaming Darling Was Also Made With Unreal Engine 5
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has quickly become a major gaming hit in 2025, attracting a large and dedicated fanbase. It’s a strong contender for Game of the Year in December, which is fantastic news for Sandfall Interactive – a small but incredibly talented team of developers who created this RPG masterpiece using Unreal Engine 5.
Like several games here, *Expedition 33* features incredibly realistic graphics, particularly its lifelike characters. However, Sandfall Interactive smartly used color and style to make the game visually unique. This approach really paid off, resulting in a stunning adventure with a distinctive art style that makes everything – from characters and weapons to enemies and bosses – feel fresh and original.
Gears Of War: Reloaded
Epic Games’ Classic Shooter Was Revitalized With The Latest Version Of Its Engine
Epic Games originally developed Unreal Engine for its game *Unreal Tournament*, and continued to improve it for future titles. One notable example is *Gears of War*, which utilized Unreal Engine 3 and boasted stunning graphics when it launched in 2006. Almost two decades later, Microsoft revisited this popular third-person shooter and created a modernized version called Gears of War: Reloaded.
Epic Games wasn’t involved in this remake – they’re focused on Fortnite and developing new versions of Unreal Engine. However, The Coalition successfully used Unreal Engine 5 to revitalize this classic shooter for today’s gamers. The original game’s graphics were starting to look dated, and Reloaded fixes that perfectly. Marcus Fenix and his team look fantastic, the Locust enemies are even more frightening, and the action remains thrilling and enjoyable.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Another Konami Remake That Looks Even Better Than The Original
Many consider *Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater* to be one of the best video games ever made, and its graphics were incredibly realistic when it was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2005. Remaking such a popular game was a huge challenge, particularly without the original director, Hideo Kojima, involved. However, Konami has surprisingly succeeded – *Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater*, recently released, is already being praised as one of the most visually stunning remakes available.
The best thing about this game is that it stays true to the original *Metal Gear Solid*. *Metal Gear Solid Delta* offers essentially the same experience, but with a major focus on improved graphics, and that approach really works. Hideo Kojima originally intended the game to feel like a movie, and he achieved that in 2005. This remake’s stunning, realistic visuals take that cinematic quality to a whole new level. Because the gameplay centers around Naked Snake using stealth and his environment, it was crucial that the game’s settings look incredibly detailed and realistic.
