Summary
- Dragon Ball Super Volume 24 releases April 4th, showcasing Toyotaro’s art.
- Despite fan anticipation, there’s no news on the manga’s return anytime soon.

The next volume of “Dragon Ball Super” is set to drop soon, featuring Chapters 101 through 104. The stunning cover art for Volume 24 has been unveiled, leaving fans eagerly anticipating its release. Despite the current break in the series, updates about the continuation of the manga are yet to be announced.
With the conclusion of “Dragon Ball Daima,” I’m left eagerly anticipating new adventures in “Super” as it remains the only ongoing series for us die-hard Dragon Ball fans. Fingers crossed that we might hear about additional content, be it another season of “Daima” or more episodes of “Super” in the future. The AnimeJapan 2025 convention is happening this weekend, and while I can’t help but feel a bit impatient, there’s always hope that it will bring some exciting news our way!
Dragon Ball Super Volume 24 Release Date
The 24th volume of Dragon Ball Super is set to be published in Japan on April 4, 2025. However, VIZ Media has not specified a release date for the English edition in the US as of now. A sneak peek was shared recently, but the complete cover has only been unveiled in the latest edition of V-JUMP, the magazine where the manga is originally serialized.
The general response towards the latest release appears largely favorable, with numerous accolades directed towards Toyotaro, who is often considered a potential heir to Toriyama’s creative legacy by fans, and even acknowledged as such by Toriyama himself.
Indeed, I, too, share the same sentiment with many fellow enthusiasts. We’re all eagerly waiting for updates on the resumption of our beloved manga next month. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lack of news about it returning soon, as I’ve noticed in various online discussions, like this Reddit user.
Imagine making this hardest cover of all time, then not getting the manga going.
Is Dragon Ball Super Canceled?
By March 2024, DBS had taken an extended leave following the announcement of Toriyama’s passing. A glimmer of hope emerged for fans in February 2025 with the release of Chapter 104, a special edition chapter. Many anticipated a resumption of the regular schedule, but alas, this did not come to pass, and the series remains on an indefinite pause once more.
Under Toyotaro’s artistic direction, Super was heavily overseen by its original creator, Toriyama. It was Toriyama who scripted the narrative arcs and made revisions to the storyboards that Toyotaro drew initially. After everything was approved, Toyotaro would then create the final illustrations.
It could appear logical to allow Toyotaro to conclude the story if Toriyama shared his plans for Dragon Ball Super with him. Yet, due to ongoing disputes over the franchise rights, continuing Dragon Ball Super may not be straightforward.
To date, the series has not received an official cancellation notice, yet its return might take some time. Nevertheless, we might hear updates regarding Chapter 105 once Volume 24 goes on sale.
You can stream the Dragon Ball Super anime on Crunchyroll, while the most recent manga chapters can be read for free on MANGA Plus.
