Until Dawn Patch 1.06 Notes

Until Dawn Patch 1.06 Notes

As a longtime fan who’s been through countless horror game marathons, I must say, the recent developments with Until Dawn‘s 1.06 patch have got me both excited and slightly impatient! The PS5 version is coming soon, which is music to my ears, but PC players seem to be in a bit of a pickle due to some testing delays.

The remastered version of “Until Dawn” received generally moderate reviews upon its release, however, the team responsible for the updated version for current-generation consoles is striving to enhance the game’s reputation.

Regrettably, PC gamers are experiencing a delay with update 1.06 due to Ballistic Moon’s dedication to thorough testing, aiming to prevent any issues and guarantee that the patch doesn’t turn out to be ineffective on this platform.

Regardless of any obstacles, the developers are planning to release the update for the PlayStation 5, primarily with the aim of having “Until Dawn” available when the PlayStation 5 Pro becomes available on November 7.

Breaking Down The Until Dawn 1.06 Patch Notes

PlayStation 5 Graphics Settings

As a devoted gamer, I can tell you that the PS5 and its counterpart, the PS5 Pro, offer an exciting feature: Performance and Fidelity mode. The Performance mode focuses on maintaining a smooth frame rate at all costs, ensuring gameplay is consistently fluid. On the other hand, Fidelity mode prioritizes high-quality graphics, even if it means compromising on frames occasionally for a more visually stunning experience.

Crashes and Soft Locks

Patch 1.06 has killed some crashes identified during the early playing.

The game now continues smoothly without crashing when a pause occurs during prerecorded videos, and the problem reporting tool functions effectively, even with active antivirus software running.

The lodge sequence in Chapter 2 also no longer triggers a crash.

Chapters 5, 8, and 9 no longer let you get soft-locked due to missing or stuck characters.

Graphics Changes

The picnic area in Chapter 2 now has improved lighting.

Following the upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.4, character and animal hair now appears more refined and reduces instances of unwanted ‘ghosting’.

On the Steam Deck, the standard graphics settings have been adjusted to accommodate its more modest hardware abilities.

In the forthcoming computer update, snow effects won’t slow down your system as drastically, particularly for CPUs having a smaller number of cores.

In the updated version, film grain, torch effects, and pre-recorded videos now play smoothly without the stutter that was present at launch, running at their intended frame rates.

On the Nvidia RTX 4000 series GPUs, developers have momentarily turned off Fast Synchronous Shaders (FSS) because of some performance-related concerns.

We’ve temporarily turned off the Advanced Real-Time Rendering setting to allow our team some extra time to optimize cutscenes, ensuring they fully leverage this feature.

As a gamer, I must say it’s delightful to see improvements in the visuals. Previously, players noticed an inconsistency between the new lighting and the artistic style in many scenes. Here’s hoping that the adjustments made will prove to be a worthy investment.

Character Fixes

After addressing numerous funny glitches from various missions, it’s worth mentioning that Ballistic Moon has pointed out that some issues persist.

In the update version 1.06, several issues have been addressed: Mike floating during chapters 3 and 10, Sam’s movements getting stuck in a repetitive pattern in chapter 10, frequent clipping problems involving Emily, and occasional disturbances with character facial animations.

Streamer Mode

With the latest update, the Streamer Mode effectively silences tracks correctly. After installing the patch, you’ll be able to stream confidently without any worries about audio issues.
