As a seasoned gamer with a decade-long journey under my belt, I can confidently say that the news of Until Dawn’s remake for PS5 and PC has me more than excited! I remember the nail-biting terror I experienced during its initial release on PS4, and I can hardly wait to immerse myself in its chilling narrative once again.
Originally a chilling and intense exclusive for PS4, the game Until Dawn will now transition to the advanced platform of both PS5 and PC on October 4, featuring a host of upgrades.
As stated on PlayStation.Blog, the remake is said to focus primarily on enhancing the mechanics and visuals of that pivotal night using Unreal Engine 5’s advanced ray-tracing, rendering capabilities, and overall graphic prowess compared to the original game’s engine. In other words, it will not change the story events from that fateful night, but rather upgrade its technical aspects and aesthetics.
Long-time gamers can look forward to some exciting upgrades, including fresh collectible items, refurbished totems, a revamped introduction, enhanced motion capture, advanced sound design, and contemporary camera controls.
Essentially, if you don’t manage to safeguard each character, the setting and dialogue will appear more appealing or charming.
The initial game showcased the PS4’s technological mastery, seamlessly integrating the controller’s sensitivity to minor movements for the “Don’t Move” feature, where a slight jerk could be the difference between life and death.

PlayStation Continues To Revamp Last-Gen Hits
The release of the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn in 2020 sparked a trend that has since impacted games like Insomniac’s Spider-Man and Santa Monica Studio’s God of War and God of War: Ragnarok, among others. However, this shift in policy is not solely due to Sony’s altruistic intentions.
Despite taking at least 2-3 years for a PlayStation exclusive to become available on PC, this trend seems less about chance and more about deliberate strategy. Sony CEO Herman Hulst’s “Strategic Approach” is based on the idea of initially releasing games on PC to pique players’ interest, who are then likely to be eager to play future sequels on the PlayStation platform.
In the event that the remastered version of ‘Until Dawn’ turns out to be your preferred PC game, and then a sequel is unveiled, you face a choice: either acquire a PlayStation 5 immediately, or hold off for a couple of years.
