This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf Arc.
Summary
- The Holy Knights have higher authority than the Marines, signaling their immense power.
- Gunko, the first fully revealed Holy Knight, has bandage-based powers similar to Doflamingo’s Devil Fruit.
- Gunko is likely to possess advanced Haki and could rival Yonko right hands in strength.
In the grand saga of One Piece, the Elbaf arc has begun with an exceptionally strong opening, and creator Eiichiro Oda hasn’t slowed down in providing thrilling plot developments and enriching the narrative with captivating lore. The tale is now unfolding in unexpected ways, as new characters like Loki enter the scene, and most recently, two Holy Knights have made their appearance in Giants’ territory too.
Without a doubt, the two characters from the Holy Knights have sparked immense curiosity among fans, and at long last, one of them has had their identity and abilities disclosed to the audience. This figure is none other than Gunko, whom fans anticipate to be extremely powerful, with subtle glimpses of her strength previously shown to readers.
The Order Of the Holy Knights
- A Mighty Group That Protects The Celestial Dragons
- A Group With Higher Authority Than The Marines
In the narrative of “One Piece,” the concept of the Holy Knights was introduced when the Wano arc concluded. Following the chaos of the Reverie, these knights were instrumental in addressing the issues related to the Celestial Dragons at Marijoa’s Holy Land. This was a concern for figures like Akainu, as it limited the Marine’s power significantly, suggesting that the authority of the Holy Knights surpasses any Marine. This also implies that the Holy Knights might be an order directly connected to the Celestial Dragons, indicating that powerful Celestial Dragons who can fight are part of this order.
Our real war begins once the Holy Knights take action. — Dragon
In chapter 1136 of “One Piece”, viewers were surprised to see two Holy Knights attempting to enlist Loki into their ranks, which previously seemed exclusive to the Celestial Dragons. However, this proposition caused confusion among fans because Loki is considered a commoner in the eyes of the Celestial Dragons. But, if Loki had accepted the offer, he would’ve been made a Celestial Dragon, not necessarily due to being one by birth, but rather due to his extraordinary power that rivals the Ancient Weapons in “One Piece”. This suggests that the Holy Knights may essentially be an order of the Celestial Dragons, unless proven otherwise, as exceptions can be made for exceptional individuals like Loki and York, who were given Celestial Dragon status due to their unique abilities.
As an onlooker, I can’t help but marvel at the formidable might each member of the Holy Knights displays in battle. A clear indication of their immense power was subtly conveyed by Dragon, the Supreme Commander of the Revolutionary Army. He stated that the true conflict of the Revolutionary Army would erupt once the Holy Knights take action, implying that even he acknowledges their potential threat.
Gunko And Her Powers So Far
Gunko is The First Holy Knight to Be Fully Revealed
In One Piece Chapter 1134, viewers witnessed two Holy Knights secretly enter Elbaf using a summoning circle, reminiscent of the one used by the Five Elders during the Egghead Arc. This time, two figures emerged from the circle, with one leaving fans astounded. The first appeared to be a bandaged woman, while the second bore an uncanny resemblance to Shanks, a character fans had encountered in One Piece Chapter 907. Although the Shanks doppelganger is undeniably intriguing, it seems Oda plans to unveil his true abilities and identity at a later stage in this arc.
Currently, creator Oda has disclosed certain details about the bandaged woman in Elbaf, and she appears quite intimidating. Her true identity is Gunko, which can be roughly interpreted as a warship. Notably, her attire features a long-sleeved jacket that conceals her arms, and she boasts eyes of two distinct colors.
Should I kill both you and your wolf? — Gunko
Onlookers have caught a sneak peek of her abilities thus far. Gunko appears to possess a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, as she’s shown the ability to manipulate and generate bandages. Her power resembles that of the String-String Fruit (Ito Ito no Mi), once held by Doflamingo. With this fruit, Gunko can swiftly fire bandages at targets and tighten them with immense force, stopping blood flow, lifting individuals into the air, and inflicting severe harm on even Giants through pressure alone.
In the thrilling chapter 1136 of One Piece, I found myself hoisting Loki’s colossal Underworld Elbaf wolf aloft! It seemed as if I was moments away from delivering a fatal blow. Now, this may appear to be a mere trivial accomplishment, but let me remind you, this isn’t your ordinary pet dog. This beast hails from the formidable Underworld of Elbaf, where creatures rival or surpass the mighty foes Luffy encountered in Ruskaina. In other words, this wolf possesses such prodigious strength that even Luffy, with his Gear 4 activated and advanced Haki at the ready, would struggle to best it. Given these circumstances, it’s evident that Gunko could effortlessly vanquish an adversary on par with a Gear 4-empowered Luffy!
Gunko’s Haki
To date, the specific Haki abilities of the character Gunko have not been disclosed to viewers. Yet, it is clear that she will wield Haki, at a minimum possessing both Armament and Observation Haki. Given her role as a Holy Knight with significant responsibilities, it’s reasonable to assume that she may even excel in advanced Haki usage. It’s possible that Gunko could harness Conqueror’s Haki, though this is yet to be confirmed. However, if she does possess such power, it wouldn’t be unexpected. For now, her abilities seem formidable, to put it mildly.
Gunko needs to possess a strength that matches or surpasses the Yonko’s right-hand commanders like Katakuri and King. Her power level should be comparable to Zoro, or maybe even exceed it. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how far Oda will take the Holy Knights, but it won’t be long before we find out. The Shanks’ doppelganger is likely Yonko-level, while the other Holy Knights might have varying strengths. However, they should all be on par with a Marine Admiral, although they may not be as powerful as them.
