The upcoming movie adaptation of “Chainsaw Man,” titled “Reze Arc,” is slated to hit Japanese screens in 2025. With the initial announcement made back in 2023, fans are eagerly anticipating updates on the series’ continuation, as news has been scarce since then.
In this new adaptation, titled “Reze Arc” or “Bomb Girl Arc,” unfolds swiftly following the conclusion of Chainsaw Man Season 1. Given its status as a movie adaptation, it’s no surprise that this segment is relatively brief within the broader narrative known as the Public Safety Saga. The story spans from Chapter 40 to Chapter 52, giving us a glimpse into the film’s captivating plot. Let’s delve deeper to uncover its intriguing details!
Who is Lady Reze in Chainsaw Man?

In the realm of my favorite manga, I’m a fervent fan who can’t get enough of the captivating character known as Lady Reze or Ms. Reze. Hailing from an unusual background, she’s a fascinating hybrid of human and devil, originating from the Soviet Union. Contrary to what one might expect, given the story takes place in the late ’90s, the USSR continues to exist within this series. Her mission? Well, it’s quite intriguing: she’s been dispatched to Japan with a singular objective – to snatch the heart of none other than the Chainsaw Man!
In essence, Reze is a stunning woman with violet locks and emerald eyes, who exudes kindness and appears to harbor romantic feelings for Denji. Much like other hybrids, she can morph into her devil form, which is aptly named the Bomb Devil. This arc is often referred to as the Bomb Girl Arc due to this transformation. Originating from Soviet government experiments aimed at creating super-soldiers, the Bomb Devil was implanted within her during this training program. Her devil form mirrors an atomic bomb, specifically the Fat Man bomb, which was exploded by the U.S. over Nagasaki during World War II (1939-1945).
What Happens in the Bomb Girl Arc?
She’s attempting to deceive him, build trust, and move closer to him so she can accomplish her objective. She appeared in chapter 40 of the manga and the final episode of season 1 in the anime. She works at a café, and much of the storyline involves Denji bonding with her as they grow familiar with each other. However, things shift when she unveils herself as the Bomb Devi while the Devil Hunters chase after her. Yet, Denji finds himself torn between his romantic feelings for Reze and Makima.
In the course of events, Denji confronts Reze while transformed into Chainsaw Man, but learns to his dismay that their battle was part of a larger scheme. However, by the conclusion of this particular storyline, it’s made clear that Reze isn’t deceased – she reappears in the Control Devil Arc (comprising Chapters 80-97). During this time, she can be seen as one of Makima’s pieces on the board. The series implies that Reze survives until its end.
In the storyline known as “Bomb Girl,” Beam claims to work for the Gun Devil, but this is thought to be a falsehood that Makima has led him to believe. What’s certain is her connection to the Soviet Union, which controls 28% of the Gun Devil. The narrative then moves forward into the “International Assassins” arc.
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc Release Date
2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year as I eagerly await the debut of “Chainsaw Man: Reze”! The official release date will be revealed at AnimeJapan 2025, happening from March 22–25. Mark your calendars, because on March 23, a captivating panel dedicated to “Chainsaw Man” is scheduled to unfold – I can hardly wait!
It appears probable that the film is slated for a mid-year release, ensuring ample time for the creation of effective marketing strategies. Although no global distribution has been officially announced, there’s widespread anticipation that Crunchyroll and Sony might handle the worldwide release of the movie.
In terms of the main team, there have been some shifts. The studio, MAPPA, is still in charge of the series, and Hiroshi Seko continues as the lead writer. However, the director for this movie will be Tatsuya Yoshihara, known for his work on Black Clover and episodes of Chainsaw Man, while Season 1 was directed by Ryu Nakayama and Makoto Nakazono.
Chainsaw Man is available to stream on Crunchyroll, subbed and dubbed in many languages.
