As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share the news that according to statistics from the initial three months of 2025, The Nightmare (Freddy Krueger) emerged as Dead by Daylight’s most formidable slasher! In addition, Behaviour Interactive disclosed data on character pick rates and escape rates during this period. They also hinted at another data release coming in July, keeping us eagerly waiting!
In the thrilling multiplayer game Dead by Daylight, participants are divided into two groups: killers and survivors. The objective of the killers is to capture and eliminate the survivors, while the survivors must evade death and escape. This game showcases a diverse roster of killers, influenced by numerous media sources such as films, television shows, anime, and other suspenseful or horrifying narratives. Characters like The Demogorgon, Albert Wesker, Pinhead, and Freddy Krueger are some of the iconic killers featured in the game’s chilling environment. Recently, developer Behaviour Interactive has shared captivating statistics about player engagement for fans to explore.
From January to March of 2025, Freddy Krueger in Dead by Daylight emerged as the most lethal killer, boasting a kill rate of an impressive 69% across all skill levels (MMR brackets). Notables like The Lich, The Twins, The Blight, and The Nurse also showed high efficiency. Interestingly, although Freddy was extremely effective in his role over the past three months, he wasn’t among players’ preferred choices, failing to crack the top 10 pick rates. Instead, The Mastermind and The Blight held the leading positions.
Freddy Krueger Had a 69% Kill Rate in Dead by Daylight from January to March 2025
Apart from presenting the statistics of killers in Dead by Daylight, Behaviour also gave insights into how survivors fared from January to March. According to the data, escape rates were quite similar across Matchmaking Rank (MMR) categories, with an overall escape rate of 41% and a slightly higher rate of 42% for high MMR. However, when looking at group performances, the escape rates significantly increased, reaching 48% for high MMR.
Freddy’s placement atop the deadliest killers list demonstrates that the revamp has transformed him into a true terror within the game Dead by Daylight. Previously, he was perceived as somewhat feeble, and his abilities were not particularly daunting for survivors. As a result, the developers decided to implement changes, with the key one being the ability to transition seamlessly between Dream Snares and Dream Pallets, significantly enhancing his agility – although other alterations were also made. While the creators may tweak balances in future updates, for now, Freddy appears to be an excellent choice.
