Okay, so this is awesome news for us PS5 players! The developers just announced they’ve cancelled the Xbox version of their upcoming game, 1348 Ex Voto. That means it’s going to be a PlayStation and PC exclusive! We’ll still be able to jump in on March 12, 2026, but Xbox gamers are unfortunately out of luck and will have to play it somewhere else.
In 1348 Ex Voto, players follow Aeta, a knight on a quest to rescue her love, Bianca, portrayed by Jennifer English, known for her roles in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Expedition 33. The game features third-person combat inspired by European martial arts, with a focus on different combat stances and combo attacks. While set in a harsh Medieval Italy, the game also boasts moments of beauty and impressive scenery, encouraging players to explore its world.
Italian Indie Game 1348 Ex Voto Cancels Xbox Version, Releasing Only on PS5 and PC
With its first game, 1348 Ex Voto, Italian studio Sedleo is aiming to make a mark on the growing historical adventure genre. Recent titles like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Ghost of Yotei have demonstrated the potential of big-budget developers in this space, and 1348 Ex Voto appears to blend elements of both, but with a unique indie feel. Sedleo recently explained their decision to cancel the Xbox version, stating they want to focus on delivering the highest quality experience possible for PlayStation and PC players.
It’s unclear why the developers prioritized PlayStation and PC over Xbox for their game, 1348 Ex Voto. However, some recent games have had trouble launching smoothly on Xbox. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a good example – it was very successful on PlayStation and PC first, and the Xbox version came out months later. The developers, Larian, specifically struggled to get the game’s split-screen co-op feature working on the Xbox Series S, so that feature wasn’t included in the initial Xbox release.
Okay, so unlike Baldur’s Gate 3, 1348 Ex Voto is a game you play by yourself, which means the developers don’t have to worry about making it work for co-op on Xbox. But, Sedleo, the team making 1348 Ex Voto, is much smaller than Larian, the studio behind Baldur’s Gate 3. That means if they run into any problems getting it ready for Xbox, it might be harder to fix things and still get the game out when they planned. Thankfully, even though the Xbox version has been cancelled, 1348 Ex Voto is still set to launch on March 12th for PlayStation 5 and PC, which is great news!
Okay, so I just saw the news and it’s a bummer for anyone hoping to play 1348 Ex Voto on Xbox, but honestly, 2026 is looking amazing! The Xbox Developer Direct showed off two really cool single-player games coming soon. Game Freak, the folks behind Pokemon, are dropping a post-apocalyptic game called Beast of Reincarnation, and finally – finally – the new Fable RPG is coming out this year! I’m seriously hyped for both of those.
Meanwhile, 1348 Ex Voto seems like a perfect fit for the PlayStation 5. The PS5 already boasts a strong collection of historical adventures, including Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei, alongside immersive story-driven action games like The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Including this indie title will further strengthen the PS5’s impressive selection of single-player games.
