As a long-time Marvel fan, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming projects, particularly Daredevil: Born Again. Having followed Daredevil since his debut on Netflix, I’ve grown accustomed to the gritty, action-packed sequences that make this series stand out among other superhero shows. But Brad Winderbaum’s recent revelation about the level of violence in the new Daredevil series has me absolutely giddy!

Marvel boasts a lineup of upcoming films and series, with one of their Disney Plus offerings promising a high level of violence.

2025 promises a multitude of Marvel Studios projects, with at least five films slated for release: “Captain America: A New Dawn,” “The Fantastic Four: Initial Missions,” “Thunderbolts,” and “Blade.” Additionally, there are three shows scheduled for Disney Plus: “Daredevil: Reborn,” “Ironheart,” and “Wonder Man.” These productions will likely feature combat scenes, which could lead to a certain level of violence. However, Brad Winderbaum, the head of TV, Streaming, and Animation at Marvel Studios, hinted that one of these shows might be among the “most violent” they’ve ever produced.

Winderbaum recently featured on the Phase Hero podcast post the D23 showcase in Brazil and delved into the forthcoming MCU productions such as Daredevil, Ironheart, Wonder Man, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, X-Men ’97 among others. He hinted that the comeback of Daredevil Born Again will be unsparing when it resurfaces on TV screens. When inquired about the intensity of violence in the Daredevil reboot, he commented, “Everything has a price,” implying that the high level of violence depicted is integral to a greater tragedy that is deeply captivating.

Winderbaum shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming show while admitting some uncertainty about the audience’s readiness. He also praised the casting choices. Notably, Charlie Cox will portray Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. He stated, “This show delves deeply into these characters. I was a big fan of the original series, and this cast is remarkable. I recall discussing potential casting for a Daredevil movie with Kevin back then. If we were making a film about Daredevil, that would be the cast.” The series, which ran for three seasons on Netflix, had a fourth season in production when Netflix canceled it due to Disney’s decision to reclaim rights to Marvel film and TV projects.

Winderbaum’s disclosure about the upcoming “Daredevil: Born Again” series doesn’t bring anything fresh to the table, but it serves as a reassurance that viewers can anticipate numerous intense action scenes. Previously, D’Onofrio hinted that the new Daredevil on Disney Plus would be even more brutal than the one seen on Netflix. He even suggested a specific scene that fans might find themselves rewatching repeatedly. When prompted for additional information, he playfully alluded to a fight sequence in which Daredevil faced off against an “extremely impressive” adversary. Furthermore, he hinted that his character performed an action he never thought would be included, likely because it was excessively violent. It’s evident that the new “Daredevil” promises to push boundaries when it comes to ruthlessness and cold-heartedness, which only fuels excitement among fans who appreciate the gritty and fierce side of Daredevil.

Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney Plus on March 4, 2025.
