After spending eight successful years on the market, it’s time for the Nintendo Switch to wrap up its run. In its place, a new contender has emerged: the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. This new console is creating quite a buzz and seems poised (fingers crossed) to carry on the legacy of its predecessor.
Although the new hardware of this console may not offer a significant upgrade compared to its predecessor, it’s the game library that will ultimately shape its legacy. So far, some highly anticipated future Nintendo Switch 2 games have been revealed, and we’re only just getting started. Here’s an overview of the major titles planned for this platform.
The emphasis lies on the announced Switch 2 games that are set for North America. Exceptions will be made if the previously Japan-exclusive releases are confirmed to be making their way westward.
June 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 Games
Mario Kart World, BOTW, TOTK, Split Fiction, Tamagotchi Plaza, & More
The array of games available on the first day of Nintendo Switch 2’s release is quite impressive, blending some fresh titles with thrilling ports that were previously unattainable on its previous model. The standout game, “Mario Kart World,” is so popular that it comes included with the platform when you buy it. This franchise has always been exceptional, and it seems likely that the new release will maintain this high standard.
The HD Remaster of “Bravely Default: Flying Fairy” now moves from the Nintendo 3DS to the Nintendo Switch 2, making it one of the highly anticipated new games for the console. Given that Square Enix’s title has been primarily exclusive to Nintendo systems, its arrival on the Switch 2 is particularly thrilling. The original game was superb, and the remaster promises enhancements in terms of quality-of-life improvements and graphical upgrades.
Breath of the Wild” and its sequel “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” are being upgraded for the Switch 2 console, while numerous third-party games like “Cyberpunk 2077,” “Hogwarts Legacy,” “Split Fiction,” and “Street Fighter 6” are also being moved to this system. Upcoming July 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 Games
Donkey Kong Bananza, Shadow Labyrinth, No Sleep for Kaname Date, & More
In July 2025, the Switch 2 lineup of games may not have a large number of options, but there are several promising possibilities. The standout title is likely to be Donkey Kong Bananza, which could well be the most anticipated release for Nintendo’s system that month. It’s been over a decade since Donkey Kong has had a starring role in a game, and his last 3D platformer was back in 1999.
These games – “Super Mario Party Jamboree”, “Wild Hearts”, and “Ys X” – are expected to have updated versions for the Nintendo Switch 2, enriching the console’s game library with a diverse range of titles. Additionally, “Shadow Labyrinth” and “No Sleep for Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files” appear visually appealing.
- July 17: Donkey Kong Bananza
- July 18: Shadow Labyrinth
- July 24: Super Mario Party Jamboree: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV

Upcoming August 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 Games
Kirby, Madden, Story of Seasons, & More
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m eagerly looking forward to August 2025, hoping for some more developments in the coming weeks. However, the current line-up for the Switch 2 isn’t exactly packed. Fortunately, there’s an enhanced version of Kirby and the Forgotten Land on the horizon, complete with a new campaign titled Star-Crossed World. It’s yet unclear how expansive this narrative will be, but the original game is already a standout in my collection.
The game titled “Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar” is a revamped version of a 2008 Nintendo DS title, and it’s set to release exclusively on Nintendo Switch systems and personal computers.
- August 14: Madden NFL 26
- August 21: Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road
- August 27: Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar
- August 28: Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World
Upcoming September 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 Games
Star Wars, Daemon X Machina, & More
For September 2025, there’s still a lot left to be announced, but the two forthcoming games for the Switch 2 are quite impressive in their own right. “Star Wars Outlaws” received somewhat mixed reviews at its launch, but it’s an engaging action-adventure game that would have been ill-suited for the original Switch. “Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion” has potential to surpass its predecessor, a game that showed great promise.
- September 4: Star Wars Outlaws
- September 5: Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion
Upcoming October 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 Games
Pokemon & Dragon Quest
2025 October, it’s shaping up to be a gamer’s paradise, particularly for JRPG enthusiasts like me. I can hardly contain my excitement over the upcoming releases. Despite some controversy surrounding its pre-release marketing, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is bound to be one of the top-selling games for the yet-to-be-released Switch 2 this year. Nostalgia seekers like me will also find solace in the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, a delightful return to the classic turn-based JRPGs we all know and love.
- October 17: Pokemon Legends: Z-A
- October 30: Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake
