Mipumi Games unveiled their upcoming title, “Black Jacket,” slated for release on Steam in 2026. This intriguing roguelite offers a fresh take on the age-old card game, Blackjack, where players aim to get as near to 21 as possible. The forthcoming game also shares similarities with the well-loved Steam game, “Balatro,” which is built around cards and innovative mechanics.
In February 2024, the game named “Balatro”, developed by LocalThunk, made its way into the league of indie games that became massive successes. “Balatro” is a deck-building roguelike game with elements inspired by poker, where players strategize to build powerful synergies to overcome opponents. To aid in this, players can unlock more than 100 items to enhance their gameplay, employ tarot, planetary, and spectral cards to bolster their decks, as well as jokers endowed with unique abilities. Beyond its popularity, “Balatro” has also sparked inspiration for other games, as evidenced by a recent announcement.
Black Jacket Challenges Players to Gamble Their Souls to Break Free From Hell
Mipumi Games, in collaboration with Skystone Games, is set to unveil a new game titled “Black Jacket” in 2026, which will be available on PC via Steam. The specific release date for this roguelite adventure has not been disclosed as yet. In the game, players embark on a mission to vanquish the souls of the underworld, and by doing so, they can persuade the ferryman to let them leave hell using their winnings. Similarities with the game “Balatro” are evident in that players construct decks, boost them with potent cards, gather artifacts, suits, and curses to gain an edge over their rivals. The opponents’ strategies can be disrupted by altering card values and swapping cards, while the player also has the ability to sneak a peek at their own deck.

Beyond this, Mipumi Games has integrated intricate synergies within its roguelike gameplay that players uncover as they progress, devising tactics for each fresh attempt. To preserve the game’s enigmatic ambiance, set in the underworld, opponents remain hidden, disclosing themselves only through their actions and hand movements. Victory will depend on Black Jacket gamers deciphering these characters, delving deeper into their tales, and forging stronger connections to eventually break the cycle.

At the moment, you can’t play a demo for Black Jacket, but the developers have assured us they’ll be sharing more game details soon. In the meantime, gaming enthusiasts might want to explore other titles by Skystone Games on Steam. For instance, there’s Hellcard, a cooperative roguelike where enemies appear as if they’re crafted from paper. Or, you could try Tyrant’s Realm, a procedurally generated roguelite adventure with a gloomy narrative and graphics reminiscent of PlayStation games, in which each biome and encounter is randomly generated.
