A new zombie-themed game called The Midnight Walkers is coming to Steam. It takes inspiration from popular games like Escape from Tarkov and Dying Light, blending elements of both to create a fresh and unique experience. While those two games are quite different, The Midnight Walkers aims to combine the best parts of each, offering an ‘extraction’ style gameplay that should appeal to fans of either title. It’s expected to enter early access soon.
2025 was an incredible year for fans of extraction shooter games. Titles like Escape from Duckov and ARC Raiders were massive hits, selling millions of copies and becoming incredibly popular on Steam. Adding to the excitement, Escape from Tarkov finally became available on Steam in November. And now, players have another new game to anticipate: The Midnight Walkers.

The Midnight Walkers’ Extraction Mechanics Embrace the Hardcore Survival Style of Escape from Tarkov
The Midnight Walkers is a hardcore PvPvE FPS zombie extraction game.
Oneway Ticket Studio describes their game, The Midnight Walkers, as a challenging extraction shooter. It’s similar to Escape from Tarkov in that players must scavenge for weapons, equipment, and useful items during missions. These found items are crucial for surviving against both zombies and other players.

The goal is pretty simple: survive, grab the best gear you can find, and get out alive. It’s a lot like Escape from Tarkov in that way, focusing on that ‘extraction’ feeling. But The Midnight Walkers does things a little differently with its floors. You’re not just fighting zombies and other players; there’s this ‘Toxic Gas’ that forces you to move up through the building. That means everyone gets squeezed into smaller and smaller spaces, and the final floors are a total chaotic mess!

They can also hack into active Escape Pods – downloading their data into the Pod Tracker unlocks new escape routes whenever they need them.
The Midnight Walkers Channels Dying Light’s Intense First-Person Combat
From what we’ve seen in trailers, The Midnight Walkers focuses on close-quarters combat with weapons like knives, war hammers, and arrows. Guns are present, but they don’t seem to be the main way players will fight. This style of gameplay is similar to Dying Light, especially when fighting computer-controlled enemies. The game also features large, challenging creatures that feel like they come straight from Dying Light. However, the combat doesn’t currently include the acrobatic martial arts moves found in Dying Light, which some players might want to see added later.

The Midnight Walkers Release Date Details
