As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours on both PC and console platforms, I’m thrilled to hear that Valorant is finally making its way to Xbox Series X|S through an open beta. Having played the game extensively on my PC and experienced the precision and responsiveness of its mouse-and-keyboard controls, I was initially skeptical about how well it would translate to a console setup. However, Microsoft and Riot Games’ commitment to reproducing the game’s finely-tuned balance and investing in an “infinite horizon” for the title is nothing short of reassuring.
Starting today, Xbox Series X|S users can access the open beta testing phase for Valorant. This information was officially announced by both Microsoft and Riot Games through an Xbox Wire post on Friday morning.
In the announcement post for the beta’s release, they explained that transitioning the game to console wasn’t a straightforward process.
“Xbox’s Evan Shamoon shares that Riot is putting in maximum effort to bring the game’s title to Xbox. They are mainly achieving this by carefully recreating the intricately balanced elements of the PC version, which required numerous adjustments to convert mouse-and-keyboard controls into gamepad controls.”
“We’re nearly there, according to executive producer Andy Ho’s analogy,” he shared with Shamoon. “This project isn’t time-bound for us. Instead, we plan to continuously develop it, ensuring that players feel their investment remains valuable.”
Valorant held a beta testing phase on PlayStation 5 in June, which was well-received by gamers. After finishing the beta stage on Xbox, we can expect a clearer timeline for the console launch of Valorant.
