Vampire Survivors Devs Announce a Roguelike Deck Builder

The creators of the hit game Vampire Survivors have announced a new spin-off called Vampire Crawlers. This new game will be a deck-building roguelike, offering a different style of gameplay while still taking place in the Vampire Survivors world. Vampire Survivors was a huge, unexpected success in 2021, and its developer, Poncle, is now expanding the game’s universe with this exciting new project.

Released over three years ago, Vampire Survivors has consistently improved with free updates. These updates have added new maps and weapons, allowing players to enjoy the game’s unique, retro-style monster battles in fresh ways. The update in October even introduced online co-op, letting players team up for the first time.

A Vampire Survivors Spin-off is Coming in 2026

Poncle, the creators of Vampire Survivors, are trying something new. They recently announced Vampire Crawlers, a roguelike deck-building dungeon crawler coming in 2026. The game will let players choose from well-known Vampire Survivors characters, each with unique powers. Like its predecessor, you’ll explore both indoor and outdoor dungeons, defeat monsters, and gather items and weapons. The main difference is that combat will now happen through fast-paced card battles instead of the original game’s action.

Luca Galante, the creator of Vampire Crawlers, recently shared that the game has been in development for almost four years. He drew inspiration from various sources, including Japanese and classic role-playing games, and even card games like Solitaire. Galante hopes a key feature – a card customization system – will make Vampire Crawlers stand out. He wants it to be easy to use but also offer depth for players who want to really dive in. While different from Vampire Survivors, the new game will still include familiar elements like weapon evolution and the original game’s music.

Vampire Crawlers is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store). Xbox Game Pass subscribers with Premium or Ultimate memberships will be able to play it on day one, though a specific release date hasn’t been revealed. According to Galante, Vampire Crawlers might be the first spin-off game from Vampire Survivors, but Poncle is already working on ideas for more in the future.
